  A great Spoof film

| | See all Jax0205's reviews (32)

Most Spoof's just take the mick and try too hard to be funny but this film has taste and it has an actual story line. Obviously it's meant to be a roll your eyes comedy but you actually feel for the characters which even in some good movies you don't get. A must watch.

This is a hillarious Sci-fi spoof ,The story revolves around the the four main actors who play the bridge crew in a long running sci-fi series, their tv shows have been picked up by an alien race and taken as historical documentation, the aliens come to earth and meet the actors in a sci-fi convention ,they ask that the commander visit thier space ship to help them fight their enemy, thinking them to be nerdy fans their offer is accepted but it soon turns out that it is for real . . . " Never surrender "

One of my favourite movies of all time. An action packed, hilarious adventure in space that will keep you laughing for hours. The casting is superb and nobody seems out of place. Alan Rickman, Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver are on top of their game and form an outstanding team.

I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, especially not of Star-Trek, but you really don't need to be to enjoy this classic. It doesn't mock the genre, however just pinpoints those humourous elements perfectly.

I thoroughly recommend this film to all, you wont find better Sunday afternoon viewing for all the family, young and old.

  Just so funny..

... and stupid at the same time! This is not science fiction at all but is a well done side-splitting farcical comedy. You'll know enough from the official review what the general premise is but it is so blatantly a trekkie rip-off and something which in my opinion such a series deserves. I love science fiction but I take it seriously - that trek stuff is just 'Cowboys and Indians' all over again but set in space. So to see a spoof like this is refreshing - it says everything that I ever wanted to. Anyway - to the movie itself - everyone does their stuff convincingly, playing their cast characters who really don't want to be there and the one who doesn't want to be there most of all is the brit, Alan Rickman, as the dour Shakespearean actor. Not all british actors are like this I promise, I should know, I am one ( some of you will know me). Anyway, to get through the real-life dramas that befall them when the aliens enlist their help requires them to act out of their skin - they now have to be more convincing than ever before but it takes them a while to catch on. Some moments are very funny - the rest is even funnier ! Even the outtakes cracked me up. The aliens start out funny but you never get tired of them - they stay funny right through to the end - even after the credits have all rolled up! I don't have much room for new DVDs but I am keeping this one.

  Very, very funny!

Very funny film which everyone will enjoy, but which sci-fi, especially Star Trek, fans will love. The brilliant cast carry it off with total aplomb, & just the right amount of 'not-taking-things-too-seriously'-ness. Fantastic!

  Brilliant! Nuff said.

The Three Amigos meets Star Trek! I'm sure there are bits from other films in there too (the Enterprise never had a beryllium sphere) but I can't identify them.

This is the sci-fi version of "A Bug's Life" only better - and that's saying a lot. The concept of a bunch of actors being hired by mistake to fight in somebody else's war isn't new but it's really well done in this film. The hapless 'crew' could easily carry the whole film on their own but they don't have to because they're in an action packed space adventure on a par with most Star Trek movies. As if that wasn't enough, they're helped on their way by some teenage nerds who know their ship inside out, maybe better than the director ever did!

I wasn't too pleased when I put it in my portable DVD player and found it impossible to turn off the sub-titles but I'm not going to knock a star off because this film deserves six!

The only reason why I didn't give it 5 out of 5 is because on sertion DVD Players you can't turn off the subtitles other than that it is a really good film & funny.

One of the best spoofs around.

Inspired spoof of the Star Trek genre, that works on every level. The story is actually quite good and would work on it's own; the jokes are just brilliant. I suppose you have to be a bit of a trekie to get all the jokes, but even if you aren't, then I don't think you will be disappointed with this film. It is very well worth a watch, and if you are like me, you will be sniggering for days afterwards.
