This film did what few horror/comedy hybrids have succeeded in doing and that is to be both in equal measure, just before it lapses into farce in suddenly hits you with a memorably gruesome moment and continues along this path up until the blinding finale.Return is a stand alone classic though it does remain faithful to the whole undead/zombie genre.Part 2 sucked, part 3 is a sequel in title only though it must be said it was very good(directed by horror stalwart Brian Yuzna should be reason alone to give it a go) and 4 and 5.................Avoid like a Zombie virus.

I think that Return of the Living Dead is without a doubt one of the best zombie movies ever made, it has all the blood and gore and has good old 80's music to complete the picture, the cast in the film were amazing, i'm sure most people will agree with me, one of the most memorable characters in the movie was Linnea Quigley aka Trash, she was so amazing! and of course we can't miss out the legendary, unforgetable Tarman "BRAAAINS" for the moments he was on screen. A real must have for any zombie fan.
One of the best zombie films ever made. Fast paced film that keeps you right on the edge of your seat, falling off it with laughter, or throwing-up on it! Great special effects ( for the time ), plenty of gore, and great musical score too. If you are in to zombie films, this is an classic and not to be missed.
leave all the brains for the zombies taking,as you know for a definate fact what youre going to get with this fantastic slice of classic 80's zombie horror!its non-stop zombie fun as clu gulager, james karen and thom mathews battle to stay alive (and in one piece!)in what has to b one of the most outragous zombie flicks of all time!check out parts 2 and 3 if u can, theyre good 2,but dont know about 4 &£.
ROTLD is easily one of the best zombie movies out there, and it´s a shame that O´Bannon hasn´t made another one. It´s cheap, crude, funny and still probably the scariest vision of a zombie invasion yet. I have a thing with running corpses, I don´t like them one bit, but amazingly this one makes it work and couldn´t have done any other way. The only thing bothering me with this DVD release is that the soundtrack differs from the VHS copy I got; on DVD the zombie voices are more bass-like and atleast one song doesn´t have vocals on it (too bad because it was one of my favourite scenes with the lyrics). There is a Collector´s edition of ROTLD but for the time being only region 1 is available, I wonder which one of the soundtrack it has? Probably have to buy it and find out.
