Superstar Clint Eastwood and director Don Siegel re-team for their fifth film in this fascinating account of the only three men ever to escape from the infamous maximum security prison at Alcatraz. In 29 years, the seemingly impenetrable federal penitentiary, which housed Al Capone and 'Birdman' Robert Stroud, was only broken once - by three men never heard of again.
Eastwood portrays Frank Morris, the cunning bank robber who masterminded the elaborately detailed escape; Patrick McGoohan is a superb counterpoint as the suspicious warden.
Filmed on location in Alcatraz, this gritty and realistic re-enactment of the true story has all the power one expects from an Eastwood/Siegel movie.

A classic film. One of Clint Eastwood's finest.
It will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end.
I really hope the 3 men did survive.
For fans of "The Great Escape", The Shawshank Redemption" & "The Green Mile".
Excellent

Through the years, this jail movie has kept getting better and better...aging and yet showing the modernity of its story telling.
Director Don Siegel just gave Eastwood the opportunity to be part of a moving and thrilling story that, even though you've seen it a dozen times, gives you goose bumps...
you still wonder whether the guys are going to make it or not...
