Takumi (Chou) spends his school days in a daze about the flirty Natsuki (Anne Suzuki), his afternoons working at the gas station of best bud Itsuki (Chapman To) and his nights delivering tofu for his hard drinking dad Bunta (Anthony Wong). For five years, 18-year-old Takumi has been delivering tofu in his father's obsolescent Toyota AE86 every morning. Not only has he become a good racer, but he has also unwillingly perfected the art of drifting. Asked to drive this AE86 in a David and Goliath race against Night Kid's GTR, a glorious but unexpected victory awakens the competitive genes in his blood while his overnight fame inevitably leads to hellraising races one after another, each more exciting and perilous than the last...
Based on the Japanese manga by Shuichi Shigeno.

Without having 100 different cars in the movie there is large focus on the cars involved, which draws even non-car-enthusiast into the action.
This movie is more of an experience than entertainment and if it was shown on TV, you would not even waste 1 minute to get the popcorn.
Even though the movie is mainly about racing, you would be suprised of the side stories surrounding the pure action, which makes this movie worth the while.
I will not say that US racing movies are bad, because I like those as well,
but this movie is just in a class by itself.
Brilliant!
