This is one of the best musicals ever, and a rare treat to see it captured on DVD. With an entirely capable cast comprising of names such as Bernadette Peters and Joanna Gleason. Sondheim's genius score compliments a fantastic idea in terms of story.

This is an amazing production. The cast work very well together and bring out the humour and emotion of Sondheim's music and lyrics. A clever storyline by James Lapine.

When you were told fairy tales at bed time, be it Rapunzel, Cinderella or even Jack and the Beanstalk it would always end and they lived happily ever after, 'Into the Woods' tells the fairy tales but then continues to what happens after everone in story land gets their wish.

Was Cinderellas marriage to the prince the stuff dreams are made of, could Rapunzel handle the outside world after being raised alone in a tower and could Jack resist the lure of another beanstalk. And the end of other fairy tales are explored.

The songs are both uplifting and touching and the actors bring all their characters to life, my personal favourite is Bernadette Peters potryal of the witch.

'Into the Woods' is a mix of fantasy, comedy and drama and is a fantastic musical.
