High powered Wall Street investment banker Jack Campbell (Nicolas Cage) is at the top of his profession, and he has the luxurious lifestyle to prove it. Life is just about perfect: that is until one snowy Christmas Eve night when Jack unwittingly stumbles into the middle of a grocery store hold-up and in a bold display of self-preservation disarms the gunman.

The next morning is Christmas, but instead of calmly waking up in his beautiful penthouse apartment, Jack wakes up because a couple of kids are bouncing on his bed. He is in suburban New Jersey, lying next to his college sweetheart, Kate Reynolds (Tea Leoni), whom he left 13 years ago in order to pursue his high finance career. A confused and horrified Jack runs out of the bedroom and speeds back to Manhattan. A disconcerting visit to his apartment and office building confirm the worst - his former life no longer exists...

Nicolas Cage is given the option (or forced, really) to live his life another way given that he had made a different crucial decision. The result- he no longer has his high class wallstreet career, no more ferrari and occasional model-girlfriends. Instead he is, as the title gives it away, the Family Man, with a steady wife and children. Adapting to his drop in status and job is at first saddening and angering to Cage, yet when he realises that happiness is found in much more than material posessions, the film gains warmth. A great movie that I would recommend to any and everyone.

 Great film. Scarey for men!

A really enjoyable film. I think it takes a good actor to pull off this type of role and luckily Nic Cage is that actor. Switching from the man living every single mans dream (rich, successful, pretty girlfriends) to the sudden scared family man with no idea whats going on. Its not an easy role but he plays it to perfection. Tea Leoni is great as his wife and together they make the film funny and heartwarming. A really good watch for a couples night in or one for the family, especially at Christmas!

 Brilliant

Great film! You watch this character go from the high life with everything every one dreams of having and then he's given a life where his job earns him little and he has a wife and kids - seeing how he copes is a really interesting journey.

Id recommend it, and it's quite chrismasy for anyone who wants to get in the holiday spirit (any time of the yr)

Just watched this recently, had been waiting to catch it for a while.
This is a good movie, and the story and message are good.
But it left me a little cold. I thought it was gone be more Feel Good then it turned out to be.
No where near as Good as Its A Wonderful Life or the films based on Scrooge.
Nicolas Cage was good in it, but has been better. Tea Leoni was very good. Don Cheadle was good.
So to recap, good, not great, could have been better.

 A TRULY BRILLIANT FILM

Nicolas Cage plays Jack Campbell a mega successful businessman who lives the ultimate rich playboy lifestyle until one Christmas Eve he intervenes in a heated argument in a local store and gets way more than he bargained for.
When he wakes the next morning he is transported from his rich lifestyle and awakes next to his college girlfriend Kate Reynolds (Tea Leoni) with 2 kids in tow.
After freaking out he finds the man who has done this to him (Don Cheadle) who explains that this is a look at what life could have been like for him if he had made different choices. Jack now has to learn about the surburban lifestyle quickly and how to be a Dad and Husband but after having a taste of this life will he want to go back?
Nicolas Cage plays this role superbly and shows that despite having all the money and power any man could crave that sometimes its the simple things in life like family and the love of a family that is worth way more than money and power.
This is a lovely film set around Christmas time so warms your heart with its lovely story and excellent performances from Cage and Leoni.
Well worth buying we watch this film every Christmas and also during the course of the year has it really is that good.
