When the emperor is felled by an assassin's poison, his only heir, the Child-Princess Savina, quickly discovers that the greatest threat the Empire has ever faced will come from within. The respected Archmage Profion has set in motion his dark plans to turn the Council against her rule. If he succeeds, the Council will order the young empress to surrender her crown and the sceptre, an action she must refuse at all costs. Profion will stop at nothing to secure the sceptre and the power of the Gold Dragons for himself, and his schemes threaten to plunge the nation into civil war!

The Empress sends her most trusted scout, Norda, on a suicide mission to find an ancient artifact, the Rod of Savrille. Its fabled ability to summon and enslave the wills of Red Dragons may tip the balance of power back in their direction and allow her to expose Profion's treasonous plans. Profion, through magical means, discovers her plans to thwart him and a deadly race for the weapon begins.

But destiny, it would seem, selects her own champions... and soon the fate of the entire realm will rest not with Norda or the mages, but in the hands of those the Empire has forsaken…

And time is not on their side...

 A dragon-tastic movie

I felt this movie got some very harsh criticism. I admit it some of the special effects won't great but it did have a good story. It is based around two thieves who get caught up in a political confrontation and end up on a mission to find a object which will decide the fate of the kingdom. I admit it won't satisfy some older viewers but I'm 25 and as a big fan of fantasy films fully enjoyed this film. It ticke all the boxes in my opinion. It had magic, unique characters and a good villain.

this film should not have been made. the only thing worse than the acting was the script... the effects... even worse. Maybe.
This film is in my opinion the worst film i have ever seen and i have been on a voyage to tell this to the world. Yes i know alexander was epically aweful but this... this.. this makes murder almost justifiable.

 This film is fantastic!

Top 10 Toys Reviewer

The only really bad thing in this film is Mr Irons' acting. Crikey blime-o'flip does he ham it up! When my girlfriend (now wife) saw this, it finally clicked about how roleplaying/D&D works and she started to get into our D&D sessions. The trouble with this and all other fantasy films is that they will always be compared to The LOTR trilogy and against them, no film can really match but on its own, Dungeons and Dragons is a damn good fantasy film.
