There are points when watching this series that you will come close to wetting yourself with excitement. Tonnes of extras and awesome value for such a funny series.

  Funniest spoof show ever created!

This NEEDS ANOTHER SERIES! Fantastic send-up of 80s hospital drama programmes. Each episode is purposefully badly written and directed, showcasing the great comic talents of the actors in the show. This DVD has some fantastic extras: interviewing the 'stars', outtakes, awful songs etc. A MUST BUY DVD! There really should be a movie made of this comedy. FANTASTIC! Best show on CH4 in 25 years!

Excellent spoof series about a fictional 1980's Hospital Sci-fi Horror Drama Comedy Programme that screened on Channel 4.

It's full of great moments that you and yor friends will quote over and over.

Unfortunatley Just 6 episodes and no other series in the works.

A fantastically funny show. Reminds me of so many badly made programmes while simultaneously being absolutely brilliant. Hammy acting, ego-mania, bad sets, awful direction, atrocious (and hilarious) dubbing, awful special effects, it's all in here. All of the extras stick to the line that this is a real show so the commentary has the cast in characters, as do the documentaries etc. I've tried to tell as many people as I can how good this is and I say to you now, buy it!

This show is bizarre but brilliant. It is the stuff of legend and as such will surely survive Channel 4s apparent indifference. Starring Matt Holness (son of Blockbusters Bob Holness), Matt 'One Track Lover' Berry and the lovely and gorgeous Alice Lowe (widow of Arthur). WE WANT MORE! Please.

not a lot to say on this series really, except that it's right up there with the best comedy ever written

it's amazing, ridiculously funny and well worth watching over and over again

watch out for Richard Ayoade's acting, he's the guy who plays Thornton Read played by Dean Learner, for me, he is the essential part of his program, he's so bad it makes you cry.

also, if you watch and like this, tuck into Nathan Barley, and obviously Mighty Boosh, both shows in a weird way blatantly took some of their idea's from Darkplace

What the hell does HighPlainsDrifter mean? "Comes very close to The Office". I don't know how you even dare compare this to The Office. The Office is rubbish, Ricky Gervais is just some washed up comedian who's not even funny. You should have seen him on that Concert for Diana, he was saying stuff and people were hardly even laughing. On the other hand, this is what you call proper comedy, it's unique and different and I can watch it over and over and never get sick of it. Very funny extra features aswell. If you liked Garth Marenghi's Darkplace when it was on TV but haven't got it yet and you also saw Man to Man with Dean Learner on TV then you might aswell wait for the box set with both of them coming out very soon for £23.99, either way make sure you get this, you can't go wrong. Well worth the price so get your copy, and quick. "I need to grab a shower"....

This is one of those DVDs that you can watch time after time, and still find something new and funny to laugh at. Incredibly clever in it's conception, well written, and such that there must be at least one actual 1980's television programme that this reminds you of. Think of "Police Squad" meets "The Young Doctors" whilst treating "The A-Team"!!! Superb!

  Weird, Wacky and Wonderful

Garth Marenghi's Dark Place is quite simply one of the craziest and funniest shows ever created. It is made as if it was done in the 80's and then cancelled. It is authentic: it has jittery camera shots, weird angles and sudden changes in scenes that really make it believable. If you can ignore stuff like things that are meant to be floating are being held up by string then this show is for you.

This is the bast show ever created!!!

You will not find a more random show on the planet. I thought The Mighty Boosh was strange and funny, but it is nothing compared to this. If you buy the series look out for the amazing acting skills of Thornton Reed.
