I saw most of Dr Who from 1970 to 1989 and while I did despair at Bertie Basset, generally, the calibre of the writing for the series was a very high quality.

I read about the myopia shown by the BBC in junking the early series (well done Restoration team) and it saddened me so it was with no small leap that when I heard that Dr Who was being revived by an American Cartel, I waited with some interest.

I came back from honeymoon on the night of broadcast - a joyous event marred by the recent death of Jon Pertwee.... so we sat with our glasses of wine and enjoyed the spectacle

Visually superb, congrats especially to the redesign of the TARDIS interior - it's amazing what a budget and care can do

A brave attempt to revive the series which would lie in state until the writing genius of RTD and his team would shock us back into Who-reality.

I would love to see a directors cut (hint, hint)

Another wish for the list...... I would love to see the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th Doctors - looking ahead in maybe 2011 - together in "The Four Doctors" and maybe retcon a 8th - 9th regeneration as we only ever heard hints about this (but I can dream)

In terms of cast, Paul McGann was an inspired choice as No 8 and Eric Roberts was brilliant as The Master. It would be good to see a sequel story of sorts with the companions having a bit of fleshing out.

Anyway, congrats to Geoffrey Sax and his team, a sterling effort which was never taken heed of...... a superb effort

Although genuinely sad to see Sylvester McCoy relinquish the keys to the TARDIS I feel it was certainly an outstanding choice to select Paul McGann as his replacement. Replete with a marvellously beautiful and suitably eccentric costume Paul conveyed a vibrant, inquisitive and enchantingly fascinating eighth persona of the Time Lord, something that continues to be successfully explored through the Big Finish audio adventures. Onscreen he works well with Daphne Easterbrook's Doctor Grace Holloway and its sad that they both did not share further adventures beyond this 'feature length' special in the TARDIS, now boasting the marvellously realised period splendour of its cavernous interior. However there the plaudits end as the script and realisation of the story is certainly woefully bad. Sadly this 85 minute CBS Fox/BBC co-production does not improve on its DVD release with only a solo commentary rendered by director Geoffrey Sax feeling suitably lacklustre.
