Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a young working-class woman named Evey who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked man known only as 'V'.

Profoundly complex, V is at once literary, flamboyant, tender and intellectual, a man dedicated to freeing his fellow citizens from those who have terrorized them into compliance...

The Matrix Trilogy writing/directing team of Larry & Andy Wachowski adapt Alan Moore's seminal graphic novel into a thought-provoking blockbuster.

It is a compelling drama and a fantasy at the same time. It's one of those rare movies that leave you thinking about the world around you and how the events in the film could actually happen - or may be happening now.

Of all the movies I've seen in the last 12 months, this is the only one that left me pondering today's events in view of the movie events. That's a powerful movie. But it is also entertaining and funny at times. The acting, the cinematography, the lighting, all support the plot and feel of the movie.

Hugo Weaving does a tremendous job evoking emotion through a masked character (that never removes his mask). Natalie Portman is superb as a young woman who is forced to realize that V is not the enemy of the people, he is the solution to the enemy of the people.

It's one you shouldn't miss.

Strikingly different movie. Well worth a watch.

A shadowy freedom fighter known only as "V" uses terrorist tactics to fight against a contemporary totalitarian society.
This is a strange little film, and not at all what I expected. "V" is flamboyant and literary but twisted to a point that he borders on vicious insanity. Some would call him a terrorist. But the character is well portrayed and endearing to the point that you find yourself on his side all the way through the film. Oddly the film really makes you think too. I suppose the story and violence are not to everyone's taste, but I really enjoyed it and would certainly recommend that you give it a try.

Remember, remember the 5th of November...

I approached V for Vendetta with considerable caution having been slightly disappointed with 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' the last adaptation of Alan Moore's work. I was suprised, therefore, to find that V was a far superior piece of work and a suprisingly faithful adaptation. With a suprisingly powerful performance from Queen Amidala herself, Natalie Portman and some sterling support from a raft of well known British faces (Stephen Fry, John Hurt and Tim Piggot-Smith) as well as a fantastic performance from Hugo Weaving as V himself this film comes highly recommended. Not as good as the original graphic novel but a highly commendable effort nonetheless...

 A really great film*****

I caught this film, just before christmas, on the television & was hooked, even though i missed the first 10 minutes, but i bought the dvd, soon after though. The theme of the film, is about how 1 man, can make a difference through what you can call positive terrorism, in the guise of guy fawkes & what would have happened, if he had suceeded, in blowing up the houses of parliament updated, it is about this man, who is part of us all, who stands up & fights the tyranny of a out of control, barmy government, who think they can control, the people, a great line from this film is that the government should be afraid of the people, & not the other way around, as it should be, it reminded me of the current regime & how they try to control us through political correctness & brain washing trying to turn us, into a nanny state. This is the message, this film is giving me, which certainly makes you think, as this could be the very near future, in a similar vain to equalibrium, with chistian bale let me know if you agree with me, hence a 5 star rating*****!!!!!

This film is absolutely superb in every way. If I could, I would give it more stars.

Everything to do with this film is just right, the casting, the acting, the action, the script. When the film finished I just wanted to watch it again, as did everybody I watched it with.

Not only is the film thought provoking, leaving you thinking about the world around you, it is touching and very clever.

I will only say one thing about this film. If you haven't seen it you are missing out. Go watch it.
