way of the dragon was the only film that bruce lee wrote and directed before his death and very good it is.i would of give it 5 stars but for the opening 20 mins which was a bit boring.but that isnt taking anything away from the great man.this is truly a masterpiece with some breathtaking fight choreography especially in the alley and the final fight between bruce and chuck is still talked about even today as one of the best fight scene in martial arts.i wouldnt say that but it is brutal and great to watch.overall a classic brucie

We all know about Bruce Lee, the legend. This was his only film that he Directed. Parts of the film serve as a metaphor for when he arrived in the US as a teenager. The beginning when he struggles to communicate with a child and waitress for example, when he's hungry. And in the airport when he's being stared at by white people, because he's Asian.

Bey Logan gives some insightful commentary on the special features and the classic battles with Bob Wall, Whang In Sik and of course, Chuck Norris.

You must realise when watching this film that it was a massive achievement. Never had an Asian actor commanded such control before, never had they let anyone take a film abroad and shoot it in Europe like in this. Many of the extras were just passers by and eny real footage in the Colloseum was shot illegally as filming wasn't allowed.

I love this maybe the most of all his films, maybe because it's the first one i saw. It's such a shame Game of Death was never completed, that would've been a masterpiece, the greatest martial arts movie of all time. Instead we must marvel at we he did achieve as opposed to what he might have. The choreography in this film is second to none and light years ahead. There were great movies made 10 years later, such as Drunken Master even, that couldn't touch Bruce's action directing. Just watch how so many films after this have slower choreography, simply because Bruce Lee was so far ahead of his time.

Ok so as a film Way of the Dragon is low budget but the thing that elevates it to a classic is it's star - Bruce Lee. Lee is really at his peak here showing timing, speed and effortless grace. This uncut version contains the fight scene in the alley where Bruce Lee's character Tang Lung uses Nunchaku against the local mafia gang who are armed with an array of weapons. Other highlights include Lee's fantastic battle with Bob Wall and the epic encounter with Chuck Norris which has since achieved legendary status. As well as some superb action there is also some comedy which perhaps shows off the lighter, more real side of Bruce Lee. The dvd transfer here is excellent as are the special features - if you're a fan or just someone who has yet to check out what all the fuss was about then this should be in your collection.
