Let's cut to the chase: This film is an absolute stink-fest. The story, even for a Bond movie, is utterly absurd. The script is unintentionally, albeit rather depressingly, hilarious. Brosnan turns in yet another awful performance, posing, pouting and painfully over-acting his way through what is, without a doubt, the worst entry in the series(yes, it's even worse then 'Moonraker'!).
The rest of the cast are just as bad, if not worse. Toby Stephens delivers every one of his lines with a ridiculously camp sneer plastered across his face, in some futile attempt to remind you that he's really EVIL! Halle Berry, although very fetching in THAT bikini, fails to impress as a sassy CIA agent - thank god they abandoned the idea of a 'Jinx' spin-off! And Madonna? Seriously?! Her theme tune was bad enough, but why oh why was she given a cameo?
However, the real kick in the knackers for Bond fans everywhere can be summed up in two simple words: INVISIBLE CAR.
The one redeeming point of this film was John Cleese as the new Q. And that's it!!
Back in 1995 the superb 'Goldeneye' set the standards for all Bond films that followed. So what went wrong? The three subsequent movies got progressively worse, culminating with this bag of balls.
Thank God the producers gave Brosnan the boot, hired Daniel Craig and lured back 'GE' director Martin Campbell to give the series a well-deserved kick up the arse in the spectacular form of 2006's 'Casino Royale'.

I know that many fans have been angry with Pierce Brosnans last James Bond movie, and I will also join the group who finds Die Another Day only slightly above average compared to other Bond-films.

Brosnan has definitely found his role as 007 and Judi Dench plays M meaner than she ever has done before. Rosamund Pike also does a great job, but Halle Berry seems lost as Jinx; her one liners are NOT funny and seems completely misplaced. Toby Stephens makes a boring main villain and Rick Yune as the diamond faced henchman Zao is a walking parody. John Cleese is a poor replacement for Desmond Llewellyn and though he tries to play the role with clenched teeth, he is still 'John Cleese' and not 'Q'. Finally, putting in an invisible car is truly an insult and by doing it, they changed back to the Roger Moore cartoon-style.

So why does this film work anyway? Brosnan makes a terrific James Bond and you truly believe in his vengeful agent, and though everything is highly overdone, it still contains the classic James Bond elements, which bring joy to all of us Bond enthusiasts.

All in all; With Die Another Day they managed to pull off a James Bond film, which lost contact with reality and became a comic-style film instead. Whenever you think this is good or bad, it will still keep you entertained.

Top 10 DVD Reviewer

This was the final Bond for Brosnan, and is a huge let down. This movie seems more in line with Roger Moore's efforts. Just when they were making Bond human, they throw all that out of the window, and go for a high camp approach.
The film starts very well with Bond being taken prisoner in north koria, where he is subjected to torture in the opening title sequence. MI6 leave him for dead. Then the film goes off the rails with a face swapping, Ice castle, pratt in a electric suit kind of plot. This is Bond 20 and there are many references to his past glory's.But the biggest insults are the invisible car, and some very bad CGI recriations. Even Halle Berry fails to impress as Jynx. The film is saved by another excellent performance by Brosnan as Bond. and Judi Dench as "M" as you would expect the films action scenes do really impress, If it being the hovercraft chase or the car chace on the frozen lake.
This is a shame as this filmed could have been Brosnans best, as it stands it's just a frustrating mix of all the previouse outings.

This Lee Tamahori CG visual effects fest is an utter disgrace to the Bond series.

What drugs were the producers on when they selected this useless director (yes I think his other films are rubbish too)? I've grown up with Bond and I love them but this film is complete rubbish, I really thought they've killed Bond here. Ian Fleming and Cubby Broccoli would turn in their graves because of this abomination. Why Lee Tamahori was ever allowed to direct is beyond me but equally the story was too far fetched (a Star Trek cloaking device for an invisible Aston Martin... oh dear). What genre is this supposed to be Lee?

This has 1 star only because 0 was not a choice!

Where did it go wrong. Well firstly with the crap director, secondly with, in my view, a not very good Bond, Thirdly a awful bloody script and final the worse CGI i think i've ever seen. I love Bond, from growing up to the age i am now i'll always dream of being the super spy. But this nearly killed of my love for the series. I could rant and rant about this dog turd of a movie (invisible car for crying out loud) but not going to, again. But the think is should you buy, cause how ever much i hate it i did. Why, because it's part of a series and if you love Bond you know you have to have the whole collection. So only buy it if you're thinking of getting the whole collection, if not DON'T.

What should have been a witty tribute to 40 years of Bond is a flabby mess. The worst theme song, a terrible cameo from its singer, dreadful CGI, a tasteless scene at Moneypenny's expense and a series low point in the invisible car. There are good things, notably the pre-credits sequence, the ice chase, the destruction of the plane and Rosamund Pike. This issue contains fewer extras than the previous one

Sorry but whoever wrote the first review is talking nonsence. It's a great film, wth a good plot line and great characters, and the chase with the vanquish on ice is enough to make you squash your face up against the screen to see more of that spectacular car.

Pierce Brosnan rocks as James Bond, so keep your opinions to yourself

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars A schocking travesty.

This, without doubt is an all time low point in the Bond series. Daft script which sounds as though it was written by a schoolboy and lamentable special effects makes this an insult to the films that preceeded it. Even the theme tune by Madonna is simply ghastly. Brosnan should have been told that there is more to playing Bond that sucking in your cheeks and looking pretty. He looks as tough as Julian Clary. Fleming must be spinning in his grave.
