This is with out a doubt my favourite Bond film of the lot! It manages to pull off so many things, which at the time seemed impossible. Firstly it re-boots Bond following a 6 year absence, it then goes on to introuduce the world to one of the best Bond's in the series history - Pierce Brosnan. Finally; like Licence To Kill and The Living Daylights before it, Goldeneye manages to bring Bond down to earth and make him more human. Goldeneye never fails to disappoint from its opening at the hoover dam where 007 is paired up with 006 - Played with pure brilliance by Sean Bean (who would have thought he was the villian?!) - to a car chase involving Brosnan at the hands of the classic DB5 - the first lead actor to do so since Connery - to the final battle on a satilliete weapons system. The story as a whole is also very believeable for this day and age and stands up to scrutiny. Izabella Scorupco is easily one of the sexiest Bond girls ever and is a good allie for Bond. Judi Dench makes the role of the first female 'M' her own and the chemistry between her and Bond seems to rub off on later films especialliy Casino Royale. Sure there are times within this film where you can tell the sets are models, but thats what Bond is all about. Brosnan even gets blooded and injured in this the first time in the series (Casino Royale doesn't really follow the first 20 films) which helps bring Bond down to earth. Goldeneye also marks the first time in the franchise where 007 isn't overly reliant on gadgets, which while a good thing puts Desmond Llewelyn's character 'O' in the shade. Tina Turner also provides her voice tallents in the best Bond theme of the '90's which along with Martin Campbell's fantastic directing skills, helps make this Bond film the best of the series - Even better than Daniel Craig's Casino Royale.
