Bond has a dangerous new enemy to face in his deadly mission. Aided by the Russian underworld, his treacherous foe has stolen a top-secret helicopter and the lethal Soviet space weapon "GoldenEye" with which he plans to obliterate the Western world.

This really is a superb bond and is one of the series' best and I think it's right up there with Goldfinger and The Spy who loved me! Many things impress me about the film and here are a few
- The superb opening gunbarrel, the first to be done in CG and the remixed theme playing in the background probably makes this the best gunbarrel sequence in the entire series!
- Great music, very good at setting the Russian theme
- Superb action and the fight at the end between Bond and Alec is quite breathtaking and the height at which they are at is very dazzling
- Great plot and actors! Pierce is a great bond and Sean plays a very convincing villain

If you are pondering which bond movie to get out of the 20, maybe go for something like one of the Sean Connery films (You only live twice was the first bond film I ever saw), and then buy this! You will see the best of the new and the old bond!

Brosnan was born to play Bond.
He ignites the screen in his first outing. When a powerful satellite system falls into the ally-turned-enemy 006 ( Sean Bean ). Only 007 can save the world from an awsome space weapon that in one short pulse destroy the world.
What makes the film so good is a number of things. First it's Brosnan, he excells with the charm of Moore and the dark of Connery and Dalton,. He plays the part to perfection. Sean Bean is very good as Bonds' friend turned enemy. Martin Campell directs the film with brilliant cool tension and amazing action scenes. This film is a brilliant roller coaster ride. and a must buy for all Bond fans !

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Slightly dull and a bit daft

I suppose you can't blame the makers of Bond for re-hashing, it's what they do. Brosnan is undeniably a great James Bond, Judi Dench is an inspired M, and Robbie Coltrane's Russian wheeler-dealer lifts the film out of the doldrums, but the baddies are eye-rollingly cheesy and inept.

Merely being a Bond film gets it the extra star - but if it wasn't, people would be decrying this for being way too tame.

See 'The World Is Not Enough' or 'Casino Royale' for modern Bond done right.
