13th Bond film mostly delivers the goods...

After "The Spy who loved me", the remaining Bond films starring Roger Moore were largely hit-and-miss affairs, and this one is no different. "Octopussy" works a little better than "For your eyes only", thanks to some geruinely exciting sequences and a more striking climax. Unfortunately, the story is a bit of a mess, however, and outlandish slapstick humour makes an unwelcome reappearnace.

Steven Berkoff is utterly brilliant as an insane Russian General who wants to blow up a lot of American servicemen with a nuclear bomb.

MOORE SHOULD HAND IN HIS LICENCE TO KILL & GET HIS PENSION!

By now Moore was getting too old to play Bond. He should have had is swan song with the excellent For Your Eyes Only. Gone has the gritty tone of the previoue movie, and back are the silly gadgets ( Crocodile mini-sub) and self mocking of Moonraker.
Maude Adams returns playing Octopussy who is involved in a devestating military plot. The only good thing in this movie is the ever excellent Steven Berkoff. This guy knows how to play the bad guy, as in Beverly Hills Cop, Rambo and the Krays, what ever the film, he steals the show.
And thats very easy for him to do in a lack-luster effort like this. The movie is not terrible, as there is still some enjoyment, The film is saved by beautiful Indian setting is one of the best of the series, and some very good, if over blown action sequences. But you can't deny this entry is a huge step backwards from the previouse outing.
Moore should have handed in his licence to kill after this!

 Another Disappointment

Whilst slightly better than his previous outing as Bond its obvious to everyone except the producers that Moore has had his day, the scenes with young women are starting to look slightly creepy and the action scenes are absurd. Only Stephen Berkoff makes this worth seeing. Its sad that the involvement of George MacDonald Fraser didn't produce something better. The extras and transfer are first class but its really for Roger Moore fans only

Absolute classic James Bond this is certainly one of my favourites. As usual there are plenty of suave one liners from Moore which ooze classic Bond. There is plenty of action as Bond travels to India on the trail jewellery smugglers. This has a real feel good factor and is a very underrated film, if you like Roger Moore as Bond you will certainly enjoy this!!!!
