 The Only Truly Bad Bond

| | See all mikelove666's reviews (1)

This is by far the worst of all the 21 official Bond movies and a sad end to Moore's admittedly variable tenure as 007.

Quite simply the plot is Bond-by-numbers, the pace sluggish (the movie's "middle act" is an eventless bore), the action sequences unispired, and while Christopher Walkden is a great actor, and perhaps a potential classic Bond vilan, he is wasted thanks to a somewhat uninspired script.

However this movies' biggest sin has to be the re-casting of Moore. Yes he is in good shape for a 57 year old, but to be frank he is too old to make a convincing Bond. To put it bluntly, can we really believe that Grace Jones' character would be attracted to him? No, I believe not.

While recieved wisdom seems to have the under-appreciated, actualy pretty good and ripe for re-appraisal "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and the somewhat daft but "enjoyable on it's own terms" "Moonraker" down as the worst ever Bond's, I feel that "a View To a Kill" is definatly the franchise's only true stinker.

My advice is approach with caution, with this DVD perhaps only worth purchasing as a collection filler because believe me, after your first viewing you won't be returning to this film in a hurry.

Moore's tenure as Bond comes to a merciful end with this embarassing bore. He's far too old and utterly unbelievable, even Christopher Walken is unable to raise any interest.

THE WORST BOND MOVIE OF ALL !

This is pathetic, it takes a lot to take the crown off Moonraker and Octopussy as the worst bond movies ever, But Moonraker is like a classic when you compare it to this rubbish. Bond is way too old for the part, and it's embarassing to see young women swoon over the O.A.P.
Bond this time has to stop a power-mad industialist ( Christopher walken ) who plots to kill millions in order to corner the world's microchip supply. from the opening Snow boarding sequence to the sounds of the Beach boys, you know this is going to be bad. The only good thing in the movie is Walken as the bad guy. This should have been a spectacular swan song for Moors patchy outings as Bond. But he goes out in Pathetic fashion.
a very sad entry to the Bond Movies.

 No Moore Mr Bond!

While i am a huge Roger Moore fan and loved his 007(although i regard Sean as the best) i can only agree with the others that he was well past his sell by date in this movie, but then it didn't stop Sly Stallone or Harrison Ford recently! Never mind though,he had made his mark on the role but for me 'Live and Let Die' and 'The Spy Who Loved Me' rule ,ones to take to a desert island as prime examples of his era.You still have to own this if you are a 007 fan as i do and i enjoy Sir Rogers fun commentrys in these ultimate editions and all the extras.Patrick Macnee(John Steed in The Avengers) co stars in the movie wich was great to see even if he got killed off in not so grand style,Grace Jones and Christopher Walken are 'fun' as the villain and femme fatale if some what irritating and i love the theme song, nuff said.
