It took two previouse movies for Moore to get it right. After the poor reception of The Man With The Golden Gun. The next Bond movie had to be something special. from the fantastic jaw dropping opening stunt, you know this will be very enjoyable. Also making his first apperance is the metal mouthed super villan Jaws. The over all sense of fun is addictive but never becomes self mocking. Curt Jurgens makes a good Bad guy, and Barbara Bach is simply beautiful. The only reason I did not give the film 5 stars is that this is the same movie as You Only Live Twice. With the Volcano replaced by a under sea complex. apart from that the film is better than the Connery version and feels fresher. A excellent Bond.

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) - *****
Drop dead gorgeous Bond girl (Barbara Bach). Check. Iconic henchman (Richard Kiel). Check. Fantastic villain (Curt Jurgens) complete with terrific lair and subsequent lair-battle a la You Only Live Twice. Check. Infectious theme song. Check. Gadgets a-plenty, sexy car, numerous inspired fight sequences and exotic locales. Check, check, check and check. Not only this but Moore (who I have never had a problem with) is on top form. He may have been partly responsible for Moonraker and A View To A Kill, but this makes it more than worth it.

 Roger Moore's best Bond film

This is the definitive Roger Moore Bond film.

The previous entry in the series, "The man with the golden gun", had been affected by the disintegrating relationship between Harry Saltzman and Albert Broccoli. Broccoli was determined to prove that he could handle the production of the following Bond films on his own and everyone around him was up for the challenge.

There is a real sense of confidence and enthusiasm to "The spy who loved me". Roger Moore gives his smoothest performance as Bond. Lewis Gilbert's direction is full of creative energy, Barbara Bach is one of the most beautiful of all the Bond girls and the overall production is magnificent.

There are many classic scenes here that linger in the mind long after the film ends: Bond's eerie stalking of Jaws around the pyramids, the ravishingly shot romantic interlude on the Nile, Stromberg's underwater base rising up out of the ocean, and, best of all, Bond skling off Mount Asgard and opening a Union Jack parachute.

This is a very classy film indeed. The humour, as is often the case with this era of Bond, gets a little silly at times, but, on the whole, the film works wonderfully.

Claude Renoir's lovely cinematography makes this probably the most beautiful-looking of all the Bond films.

 HOW DOES THAT GRAB YOU?!!

I love this Bond, in opinion it is the perfect Bond film, beautiful women, car chases, great villains, Jaws is in it & there are plenty of sauve one liners from Moore "when one is in Eygpt, one should delve deeply into it's treasures". This was the film where Moore seemed like he was most confidant playing the role of Bond. Classic!!!
