Timothy Dalton makes his debut as secret agent 007 in this action-packed Cold War thriller.
James Bond is given an assignment to guard the life of a high-ranking Russian defector. The trouble is, the defection is nothing but a scam to enable the pesky Russkie to perpetrate a perfidious arms deal. Along the way Bond hooks up with the delectable cellist Kara Malovy (Maryam D'Abo), who is not all that she seems to be...

A great Bond film - a great Bond played by Dalton

Having read the Bond books, I feel that Dalton brought Ian Fleming's bond back to the big screen. The film loses the jokes that seemed to feature more and more in the Moore films. The story is also brought back down to earth with the agent involved in a plot that involves opium trafficking, smuggled diamonds and arms dealing, rather than the meglomaniac trying to take over the world. It's a shame that Dalton only lasted 2 films.
A EXCELLENT ADVENTURE !

Top 10 DVD Reviewer
Allot of critics disliked Dalton as Bond. For me the more seriouse tone that Dalton gave was back to the Bond of the novels.
Dalton's first time as Bond is excellent in this great adventure that pulls out al the stops for excitement. armed with his Aston Martin and his license to kill. Bond must stop a weapons conspiracy that is linked to the Soviet high command. The scale of the film is massive , and the action is well staged. This was the best Bond film in almost 20 years, and a welcome blast of fresh air from Moore's stale final outings. One of the best Bond movies, that is as good now as it was 20 years ago. A must buy !

Timothy Dalton makes an excellent debut as James Bond in this film which is a really good thriller.
The Living Daylights feels complete from beginning to end - direction and acting to sequences and score, this is by far one of the best OO7 films.
Growing up with Bond the cars have always been exciting. Believe me the Aston Martin sequence will not let you down, its brilliant! There are some more fantastic action sequences including the Land Rover fight and the aircraft fight, both are superb. There are also some great locations in this movie including the beautiful city of Vienna which doesn't really appear much in the movies. Dalton gives Bond his dark edge back and this for me was very refreshing.
The Ultimate Edition DVD's really do OO7 justice. With superb picture quality and a DTS soundtrack they should be part of any serious movie collection.
I think this is my favourite OO7 film. As a Bond fan it's a hard call to make this statement against some of the other movies.
