This is it! The most phenomenally popular cult classic ever, the double Golden Turkey award winner: Worst Picture and Worst Director in the entire history of motion pictures. Immortalised in celluloid by the celebrated writer, producer and director Edward D. Wood Jr.
It's all here, the infamous not-so-special effects, as aliens in car-hop outfits invade Earth in paper flying saucers to implement the ninth plan of conquest (the first eight failed.) An army of zombies (well three actually), Vampira, Tor Johnson and the legendary Bela Lugosi in his "after death" performance, menace the world, (Lugosi died five months after filming started, so a local chiropractor took on the difficult

Considered by many to be 'The Worst Film of All Time' Ed Wood's 1958 'disaster-piece' certainly doesn't deserve the scorn and notoriety it has accumalated over the years. Yeah, it's certainly ineptly produced with wobbly sets, cut-price FX and last-minute cast changes but, if you watch it for it's novelty value, you'll soon realise that there are far worse ways to spend 1 hour 18 minutes. The disc itself includes a fascinating documentary about Ed Wood himself, some intriguing cast and crew biographies and a cracking set of trailers for some of Ed Woods other films. Buy it as a companion piece to Tim Burton's superb 'Ed Wood' biopic and I'm sure you won't be disappointed...
Its an amazing experience to see such cinematic ineptitude create something so great. The editing, acting and screenplay defy description...See Tor Johnson speak inaudible dialogue, watch in horror as the same scene shifts from day to night then back again, watch in amazement as lines such as "hes been murdered and someone is responsible!" are muttered and laugh till you cry when you realise that Bela Lugosi has been replaced midway through the picture. The "Citizen Kane" equivalent of bad movies.
You don't get disappointed if you buy this film. But only if you understand what you are getting. You get awfully directed masterpiece which you must see if you are interested in the Sci movie history. This is real masterpiece.
Amazing film. You probably get that its so bad its funny from other reviews, but that really is the case. Favourite line from a cop; "He's dead, murdered- and somebody's responsible". With deduction like that, who needs Holmes. Definately worth buying for a laugh.
As others have stated, Plan 9 certainly isn't the worst film ever made - I can think of several thousand Hollywood `epics` that could easily jostle for that title! It's a testament to one man's vision and unflappable belief in his ability to make great movies! So what if star Bela Lugosi died halfway through - just get another actor that looks nothing like Bela to spend the rest of his time on film with a cape held across the face! Who needs CGI? Not Ed...
Great "Flying Saucers Over Hollywood" documentary as well (though check before buying as there's a few vanilla editions out there). Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" makes a good companion piece.
