in my view big is tom hanks best film ever.the film was just made for him its funny witty entertaining and will appeal to all the family.this film is very similar to vice versa which wasnt bad but big is the best family film of all time if you like films where father and son swap or in this case a boy making a wish to be big comes true and then he has to cope with being a boy in a mans body and at the same time falls in love with a woman.the cast including elizabeth perkins and a brilliant performance by robert loggia make this film unbeatable.watch out for the scene where hanks and loggia dance on a floor piano to the chopsticks music.it also stars john heard who plays perkins jealous ex who also gives a good performance.overall.hanks best and unmissable

  Real feel good comedy

This film is a real heart warming comedy about a boy being trapped in an adult's body (Tom Hanks) after a wish he made at a carnival. Along the way he gets a job, rents out his own apartment and even experiences 'love'. It's a very funny film with good acting from Tom Hanks. Deserves all the credit it gets. Definitely get this if you're looking for a good ole' comedy.

If you take away the hype, over-rated and over-budgeted trash that Tom Hanks has starred in, you will realise that the best films he has done have been in his early career. 'Big' is by far Tom Hanks best film, without a doubt.
'Big' is a heart-felt, funny and emotional ride through childhood and unexpected adulthood that can be enjoyed by all.
But Hanks is definitely not the film's driving force, it's Jared Rushton's wonderful performance as Billy.
'Big' is an utter classic 80's comedy that will be and should be enjoyed for generations to come.

i'm not a lover of tom hanks however this film is by far one of his best performances yet another great film is the green mile it's got the energy the story a bit weak in places but it's worth buying for the kids

Hanks at his very, very best. Lovely, heart-warming story. I learnt a good lesson as well - never trust a fortune teller at the fair.

  Classic Hanks At His Best

The reason this film still works after almost 20 years is mainly down to Tom Hanks's performance as boy trapped in a mans body. His mannerisms, his innocence and naivety and simplistic approach to complicated corporate issues are right on the mark. The handball scene with John Herd is a joy to watch.

It also helped that it had a great supporting cast who all bought into the project and it shows.
