The most expensive film in the history of French cinema is an exhilarating and highly personal love story, an ode to the director's two passions: Paris and Juliette Binoche, who was nominated for a 'Cesar' (the French equivalent of an Oscar) for Best Actress for her convincing portrayal of a young painter with failing eyesight.
After a grimly realistic opening among the down and outs of Paris, the story slowly turns into a startlingly memorable magical fantasy, with the famous bridge forming the backdrop for some of the most visually amazing scenes ever filmed.

Breathtaking. Acting skills beyond belief. Raw reality. Carax is a genius in my opinion, and this is a movie that refuses to leave me. I've lost copies when I've moved flat in London, I've had a copy stolen etc. etc. but it always comes back to me. If you have an interest in cinema that pushes boundaries and grips your heart and sole, an interest in how extraordinary life is - watch this. Then watch it again and again and again....
