for me this,after 2001 is stanley kubricks greatest film.telling (over almost 3 stately,slow) hours the story of a likeable but flawed rogue who becomes someone you originally dont care for but who in the end becomes a person you may not like but who deserves our sympathy and friendship and even love. this film only gets better with each viewing.the snail like pace only adds to the rich tapestry that this amazing film weaves.the acting,costume,music,set design,photography and direction reel you in from the beginning and you will not want to leave your seat until the end.even then you will be amazed and spellbound.this was kubrick at the peak of his prowess and it contains some of his finest,most beautiful work.cinema has never seen or will see again,the skill and artistry that stanley kubrick brought to the screen.a masterpiece bar none !
