In the literary tradition of Stephen King and the cinematic mode of George Romero (Night of the Living Dead), The Evil Dead is a visual and aural attack on the senses which requires a strong stomach and a healthy sense of humour!

Whilst holidaying in the Tennessee woodlands, five innocent teenagers unwittingly unleash the spirit of the evil dead. One by one the teenagers fall victim to the frenzied, flesh-eating monsters, amidst a tour-de-force display of stunning special effects.

evil dead has to be one of the scariest films of all time and probaly why it was banned for so long until the bbfc took a different view.and although its nearly 30 yrs old it will still scare you.the reason the film is such a big hit is writer and director sam raimi witty and funny script.yes i say funny because despite being scary and gory its done with flair and imagination you cant help but laugh and scream at the same time especially when they become posessed by demons.and the gore scenes yes are a bit out dated now but back then they were very good for a low budget film.the main lead played by bruce campbell has to be given credit for being beaten up, thrown about, bitten and scratched on the leg and tormented by his own girlfriend.there are also some weird camera angles which play a big part on certain scenes of the film and work brilliantly.overall.scary and gory as hell

With a budget of only $375,000 would you ever expect this to be a cult classic? Would you ever expect it to be a classic in anyway shape or form. But, to this date Evil Dead remains as one of the best Horror movies of all time.
The story is simple, a group of friends go to an abandoned cabin up in the woods, an evil is unleashed in the woods and in no time at all the friends are killed off.
The effects are extreme with pints upon pints of blood hitting walls and faces. After this there's guts and puss flying all over, its generally a messy film which might even make you feel a little sick.
The horror is good, there's a lot of suspense and tension throughout with many good scares. None of the loud sound scares that we see in Hollywood nowadays, this is just all true terror tactics!

Overall: Evil Dead - is the B-Rate cheesy cheaply made horror movie which still stands today as one of the best independant films made and one of the best horrors. It has scares around every corner, and although the acting isn't oscar worthy it definitely gives you enough to get scared about.
    MUST SEE!

Only the director sam raimi could make a movie that has a five star rating. Whoever reads this must by evil dead. You won't regret it.

An all time classic zombie film

This is what horror should be.
Gallons of fake blood, young people being offed in new and unusual ways, cheesey acting, and directed by the guy who would go on to make the Spider-man films!
Shot on a stupidly small budget, it punches well above its weight.
If your a horror fan, get it (you really should have it already though)
