It´s not an action movie nor a thriller. It´s no comedy or drama. It´s a surrealistic assault on the senses.
It´s either the worst experimental mess ever filmed or brilliant. You´ll be the judge of that.

Natural Born Killers is the story of two young lovers (Harrelson & Lewis) who are just having a good time. The only problem is the way they get that good time. It's by killing people whenever they want and whenever they feel like it. Of course, this is a horrible thing to do and it's too sadistic to even think about. So we must stop them by any means necessary. As the story goes on, we realize that the people that are trying to stop them are just as equally insane in their own way as the two main characters.

A premise like this could only come from one man and that is Quentin Tarantino. However, the movie version of his story is nothing like the idea that he came up with and that's why his name doesn't come to mind when we think of this. The name that does is Oliver Stone. Stone has done many things that were controversial when they were released and he's influenced many young filmmakers to push the envelope just enough as to say that this is original. When this particular film came out, we thought he'd gone too far.

And yet, you don't here much about this movie today. It's over a decade old now and it's had enough time to sink in with the public. When I finally got around to seeing this film, it didn't seem nearly as violent and corruptive as people made it out to be. But I didn't see it when it first came out. No, I saw it only about a year ago. There were many things going through my head about why a film like this isn't as contentious as it once was. I've come to realize and remember that back in 1994, a mostly pre-Tarantino world, our lives weren't as defiled by the media as they are today.

Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis are absolutely fantastic in this dark storyline where two products of troubled childhoods embark on a killing spree that soon gives them celebrity status with much of America. With a very unique M.O, the pair are heavily publicized - but with an absurdly positive outlook upon them. The twisted minds of both Mickey and Mallory make this amazing film and Quentin Tarantino has hugely left his mark on it.

Good buy, a film to think about.

The glamour and glitz of the media attention falls onto two unlikely celebrity candidates, Micky and Mallory Knox, in what i believe to be Oliver Stone's best film. Edgy, violent, funny, abstract, clever, fast paced, emotional, deep, colourful, sexy, anarchic and superb are only words, but they culminate in a review of this movie.

Do we know the history? Micky and Mallory first found life from the scrawlings of Quentin Tarentino, a movie that Clarence, Christian Slater's character in True Romance, had penned himself in early drafts of the movie. But the film within the film took up too much screentime, and the story was scrapped - or was it?

Luckily for us, it wound up finding a new director, Oliver Stone, and it nestled nicely up to his auteuristic, anti capitalist american flair. This film, the first of many ultra violent mainstream movies, tore down all the rules about how a film should be made. Its experimental use of various camea's, techniques, fast cut editing and animation, has raised the bar and will not be easily toppled from its top spot. This is the crazy world of MMicky and Mallory Knox, the MTV culture let loose, where everyone is in it for the money and the fame, and even the law is corrupt.

We see the story of our evil lovers through the many forms of media currently chissleing away at the morality of society. The sitcom explains the heart wrenching story of Mallory's abusive family, the "Car chases from hell" styled documentary lets us into the phenomenom that their killing spree has triggered and also introduces us to the rating's crazy Wayne Gayle, which is possibly the best role i have ever seen Robert Downey Junior play. His greed, like the greed of all commercial TV stations, has helped to feed the monster that will eventually devour even him.

Its finale see's Woody Harrelson, imprisoned, give the biggest telivised event in televisions history, with a speach that almost justifies murder, definately jabs a well deserved finger at the influence of the media whilst also highlights America's lust for violence, and its history rooted in blood. But Stone has made some of the most violent films there are, one of them even plays out in the background of one scene, as we see the chainsaw scene from Scarface, which he wrote for Brian DePalma.

If you havent seen it yet, where have you been? Dont go hiding behind a rock any longer, buy it, watch it, let it confuse you, inspire you, distress you but thouroughly entertain you.

Amazing performances from a great acting line-up. An absolutely fantastic film following Micky and Mallory, notorious lovers and serial killers. Great story, great acting, lots of blood and killing, with a great showing of the love which exists between these murderers. This film is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Much better than i was expecting- an absolute action packed thriller.. with, of course, an outstanding prison break!! I need to go watch this again!

Ok first of all, I'd say you would have to be peppered for anything and expect the unthinkable if your going to watch this film. You shouldn't watch this movie thinking it will be similar to any other Tarantino movie because it's quite the opposite.

(Although in response to the post below this is a Tarantino movie he wrote the scrip but Oliver Stone did a grad job directing it, even if Tarantino didn't agree with the way the movie was made and the changes to the script)

Natural Born Killers being one of the most controversial movies ever made, it certainly is a great one. I've never seen Juliet Lewis act so good in such a hard hitting role alongside with Woody Harrison as they both do a fine job portraying the two psychopathic killers on the run from the worlds media. Robert Downy Jr and Tommy Lee Jones both give a tremendous performance.

I think allot of people misinterpreted what the meaning of this film is really trying to tell us. The fact that even nowadays serial killers who butcher people up or a troubled teen takes a gun and starts shooting his school up, that the media idolise the killers while the victims are left unaccounted for.

I would recommend you watch it twice. Once for the experience and the second time for the meaning
