Intended to be the pilot episode of the new show "Star Trek: Phase Two" - and based on a story by Alan Dean Foster (Alien) - Remastered from the original 1979 movie - Star Trek: The Motion Picture - The Director's Edition brings the characters from the classic series to the big screen, one more time.
If you have never seen the original movie, I would recommend watching this movie at least once in your life. If you have seen the original - then I would recommend watching this version just to see how much better the original could have been, had the technology been available.
The first in a franchise of movies (5 sequels with the complete main cast) - better today then it was in 1979.
(Watchout for Mark "Sarek" Lenard as the Klingon Captain)
phasers certainly set on stun for this special edition!

Our best Crew ... in a boring movie

The effects are tremendous but the story is boring and the characters stay far behind the expectations. Although this is a 2-Disc-DVD it has not really something interesting to offer. No interviews, not really deleted scenes. Nothing what I don't know already. All together, a nice entertainment without surprises.
