Winner of 8 Acadamy Awards and 7 Baftas including Best Film and Best Director.

Today is the biggest day in Jamal Malik's life.

A Penniless, eighteen year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, he's one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, suddenly, he is arrested on suspicion of cheating. After all, how could an uneducated street kid possibly know so much? Determined to get to the bottom of Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector spends the night probing Jamal's incredible past, from his riveting tales of the slums where he and his brother Salim survived by their wits to his hair-raising encounters with local gangs to his heartbreak over Latika, the unforgettable girl he loved and lost.

Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show?

When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out... The result is the sweeping, stylish, intoxicatingly human experience of Slumdog Milliomaire, the new film from acclaimed director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, Millions, 28 Days Later, Sunshine). Part exhilarating love story, part eye-catching journey into the underbelly of the so-called "maximum city" of Mumbai, part stirring tale of an Everyman's triumph against a harsh, cynical world, Slumdog Millionaire is a visceral, action-packed Dickensian epic for the 21st Century. At the heart of its exhuberant storytelling lies the the intriguing question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love.

You know the plot, you've read the reviews, it's Danny Boyle so it'll be good, but that's all it is.

This is not a 5 star film. Although it starts well, looks good and has decent performances, it essentially repeats the same idea over and over again, each time less interesting than the last, and has an ending so smug, annoying and stupid, that it undoes a lot the previous work.

As an idea, it's very good, as a film it's standard Boyle. 'Millions' was a much more satisfying movie.

 8 Oscars . . . . not to be proud of !

Lets face it 2008 was not exactly a year for movie lovers, a roster of films which were decisively average, don't get me wrong it is not a bad film, interesting plot and a real feel good film, with a rollercoaster of emotions along the way. However, the actors didn't really cut it for me, poor execution of a rather well written script and lack of depth portrayed by the actors. I think the 8 oscars is a hollow victory for Slumdog. Look at previous oscars, The Godfather, widely acclaimed as the greatest film of all time, won 3 oscars. The Shawshank Redemption won none , because of films like Forest Gump and Pulp Fiction. Don't let the awards fool you , Slumdog is a rather average film !

 Perfection

An incredible film to rival any attempt Shakespeare ever had at making a romance, and that's obviously saying something. This film is stunning, special, dramatic, funny, sad and the love story at its heart is beautiful and yearned. Definitely in my top 5, this masterpiece from Danny Boyle should not be missed- ignore the negative comments posted here and experience this film to witness why it is now officially one of the most awarded films of all time.

WOW - What an Experience, what a brilliantly told story, so much Fun, Sadness, Cruelty but ultimately a Uplifting Movie (Certainly not the Feel good Movie of the Decade as the Posters were quoting - due some of the scenes.)
The way the film is structured with it's Flashbacks, it keeps you hooked all the way.
India looks so vibrant and full of life, the film is not centred around the Slums all the way thru and you get to see other parts of this beautiful country.
The direction by Danny Boyle was Brilliant, The acting Fantastic, especially Dev Patel and Anil Kapoor and a very special mention to the young actors in the film who were AMAZING.
Music by A.R Rahman was brilliant (been listening to it ever since)
Just a Movie that has to be watched

 Brilliant!!

I really expected this film to be over-hyped when i went to see it but it wasnt. A really good feel-good film even though it had its sad parts. Very few films i bother buying on DVD once i've already seen them or would consider going to pics to watch again but this is one of them, deffo worth the watch :)
