Nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Juliet Binoche), and Best Supporting Actress (Judi Dench), 'Chocolat' is the beautiful and captivating comedy from the acclaimed director of 'The Cider House Rules'.

Nobody could have imagined the impact that the striking Vianne (Binoche) would make when she arrived in a tranquil, old-fashioned French town. In her very unusual chocolate shop, Vianne begins to create mouth-watering confections that almost magically inspire the straight-laced villagers to abandon themselves to temptation and happiness. But it is not until another stranger, the handsome Roux (Johnny Depp), arrives in town that Vianne is finally able to recognise her own desires.

Wanted to watch this movie after it was mentioned in the film I LOVE YOU MAN. Lol
Sounded like something me and the Mrs would enjoy on a quiet winter night. And enjoy we did.
The film has an Old Romantic Feel and Look to it. The story is Nice and Simple but it does have a few dark moments.
The Film is well directed and the acting is Very Good. Julliette Binocche is Charming. Alfred Molina hams it up to the max as the chief Villain. Johnny Depp is cool as a cucumber as usual, and I thought his Irish accent was quite good. Judi Dench is Brilliant.
The Location, wherever it was looked beautiful and played a very big part in the story.
Not an all time classic, but a nice pleasant romantic watch is guaranteed.

Slow paced gentle film yet fantasic

Not a film i would usually sit down and watch but i read a good review about it so decided why not try it and i am mighty glad i did. It is slow and little nothing of any greatness really happens yet i found it to be quite moving and was fascinated with where the film was going and never found myself bored. It was shot beautifully ,the acting was a joy and the soft gentle music was most pleasant(especially the gypsy swing music ) Perhaps you would only need to watch the movie once and not need to sit through again but i cannot recommend this enough if looking for something a little lighter than the usual fast paced flick.

 lovely
