Bottle Shock (2008) is based on a true story about the early days of California wine making. The cast includes Chris Pine, Bill Pullman, Alan Rickman, Rachael Taylor, Freddy Rodriguez, Dennis Farina and Eliza Dushku.
There's a superb cast in this movie but unfortunately most of them are wasted. Pullman and Pine are very good as father and son wine makers but Rickman is pretty much on autopilot. Rodriguez is given very little work with and Dushku has little more then a cameo.
Director Randall Miller (Houseguest) keeps the cinematography beautiful and the pace of the movie relaxed. There are some nice comedy moments and some real charm to be had with this movie.
Bottle Shock has a similar feel to Ridley Scott's superior movie A Good Year. I did like this movie but its not one which is going to make a lasting impact. Good but not great.
