However!
This is the original story of how a terribly terrible film eneded up having one of the biggest fan bases to date.
Yes it is far from the mood of the original, yes it has so many faults, but its just insane from start to end, and highly entertaining!
The story behind the film itself is just as interesting, with it suffering no end of trouble. Gunner hansen (the original leatherface) was bumped by cannon pictures who wanted to pay him peanuts for the part. Also cannon decided to edit the film themselves, leaving tobe hooper in the dark on the final product.
But you know what, love the terror of the original, and enjoy the crazy-ness that is tcm 2. Oh and if you have a multi region player, get your hands on the gruesome region 1 edition, the extras are so worth it!

Set 14 years after the classic original, Director Tobe Hooper brought us this much bigger budget sequel. The cannibalistic family are back, the original film had some pitch black humour mixed in with the shocking images. The sequel is bloody stupid, and never once shocks with it's over the top gore. Even Dennis Hopper looks bemused with it all. I am aware the film is supposed to be a horror comedy, but the film is neither scary or funny.
The only saving grace the film has is the outstanding make-up effects by Tom Salvini, otherwise this is a insult to the classic original.
You have been warned!

Not as good as the original but still the best sequel. Leatherface here evokes more pity than fear,the only one who falls in love. Good visual props & fantastic acting from the late great Jim Siedow.

out of all the texas chainsaw massacre this is the best it funnier gorier and wilder than the original texas chainsaw .

not scary.. bit weird and sadistic. i watched it with some mates and we thought it was funnier than it was scary. poor film.

This film could have been so good, but in actual factg it is pretty poo. There is alot of gore in this one (which I like) but the humour is over the top and made this film seem stupid to me. Dennis Hopper is a great actor in my opinion but he was bad in this. It just seemed like he was shouting all the way through it. Also, the family seemed alot more daft in this. Leatherface was more of an idiot and had a more elaborate mask that didnt look like anything he could have made. Watch it and see for yourself. Its not bad but not great either.
