From the Oscar winning director of Titanic this fast-paced, cleverly conceived, rip roaring action adventure fires an arsenal of thrills, intriguing plot twists and heart-stopping suspense that never lets up for a minute!

In 2029, giant super-computers dominate the planet, hell-bent on exterminating the human race! And to destroy man's future by changing the past, they send an indestructible cyborg - a Terminator - back in time to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), the woman whose unborn son will become mankind's only hope. Can Sarah protect herself from this unstoppable menace to save the life of her unborn child? Or will the human race be extinguished by one mean hunk of mutant metal?

The dvd itself is bare bones for an 25th Anniversary edition. However there are some real advantages here. The picture quality is truly stunning. It looks like they have gone back to the original camera negative here.Because there isn't even a trailer on the disc the picture and sound is far less compressed giving you a sharper image with less motion blur in the action scenes.I have got two other editions of this film on dvd and this beats them both hands down. There is a DTS soundtrack available through languages on the menu. The DTS is very strong for a film made in the 80;s with good sound seperation through all speakers, to some like me this justifies the purchase alone.Throw away all editions previously as this is a must buy at a great price.

Every now and again a historic film is released we have had many including The Godfather,Alien and then The Terminator despite the fact this film had the lowest budget of all the franchise films and the special effects are now very dated the fantastic storyline of this film means you look past this and still love this film.
This is the film that launched one of the biggest franchises in film history set in 1984 a single Terminator is sent back through time with one goal to terminate Sarah Connor he cant be bargained with he has no emotion he is programmed to never stop,The human resistanse manage to send back a lone warrior to protect Sarah and battle the Terminator the battle for the future will take place here tonight in 1984 L.A.
Arnold Schwarezenegger was superbly cast as the Terminator no one else could have played this role like he did he plays it with such perfection and seems almost cyborg like,Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton are also fantastic as Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor brilliantly directed by James Cameron this film despite being 25 years old is still one of the best films around.
I am a massive fan of the Terminator films but this one still stands out for me as where it all began many people prefer Terminator 2 as it had the bigger budget, the better special effects and was aimed at a diffrent generation but this is where it all began.

This is a cult classic sci-fi movie directed by James (Avatar, Aliens, and Titanic) Cameron, where we see Arnold Schwarzenegger play the iconic movie cyborg for the first time! Great 80s film with now dated cheesy effects but still brilliant performances from the cast, great story and an iconic movie score!! A must own in any sci-fi fans collection of cult 80s movies!!

The Terminator movie is just one of those movies that theres not really any point picking faults in.
Quite simply because it is a All Time SciFi Action Classic.
Its got Brilliant Story, Spot on performances from Arnie, Michael Bien and Lind Hamilton.
The direction is assured and shows glimpses of what James Cameron would do in the future.
Some of the effects look a touch dated, but nothing to tragic.
Defo worth watching this and following it up with the even better Part 2, the below par Part 3 and the new Salvation Movie.

 Camerons' Masterpiece

A terminator is sent back in time to kill the mother of unborn resistant leader (John Connor) Simple as that for the story but this film was small budget and what was produced was a masterpiece about the killer cyborg (Arnie) who has no emotion, feels no pain and only has one mission - to kill sarah connor.
Michael Biehn plays Kyle Reece, a soldier from the future sent to prevent the Terminator from completeing his mission.
James Cameron really prevailed with this film. Even now25 years on it is still considered a masterpiece.
Arnie has minimal lines throughout the film. I think he has something like 80 words to say in total but it's the presence he brings to the screen which is both frightening and interesting.
Biehn gives an excellent and believable performance.
Hamilton who plays Sarah Connor also gives a good performance as the vulnerable mum of the unborn leader of the resistance of the future and the chemistry between Biehn and Hamilton is very good.
Special effects although low budget are awesome and the action in general is great.
The terminator just will not quit which means Reece has his work cut out for him.
Great film of cat and mouse so to speak.
