I've had this since it came out in 1993 (on video of course) and now own it on dvd and love it. Have watched it about a million times and have a stupid amount of stuff with "nightmare" on it.
Such a good movie, total Tim Burton, you have to see it if you haven't already, even if all the little emo kids have ruined it a little by having a ton of "Nightmare" hoodies.
The story of a well meaning skellingtons dream

The story of Jack Skellington, the Pumkin King, is one of the sweetest kids fairytales ever. I was six years old the first time i seen this, in 1993 when it was released and I was hooked. I loved Jack and Sally and to this day, I watch The Nightmare before Christmas whenever I need to feel like a kid again. Tim Burton at his finest as a storyteller, doing what he does best, telling a simple story in his own gothic and fascinating way. The story is the simple tale of Jack, who is bored with his role as Halloweentown's star. He wants to leave behind the horror and search for something new. One night he finds a strange clearing in the woods and is magically drawn into Christmastown. With the help of his friends and Sally, his secret admirer, Jack decides he want to have a Christmas and they set about making one. The story is a basic "the grass is always greener" kids tale, so simple and sweet that you can watch it as a kid or adult and still get that warm glow after it. The film has an almost cult like following now, but for me it will always be the movie of my childhood.
Masterpiece

So long after it's release still probably the best film, ever. A must see. The stop motion used is in it's own league and the songs and atmosphere just build it up. Not quite what you'd expect for christmas but hey, Halloween!
Good

If you liked tim burtons other films like the corpse bride you'll love this classic...Not quite your typical christmas film, but brilliant animation and magical songs compliments of jack the skeleton make this an unmissable film for adults and children alike. You'll want to watch it over and over again!
the best film going!!!

This is one hell of a film/animation.
I watched it a few times on TV but wanted to own it on dvd, so i went ahead and bought it.
The CGI/Graphics are excellent and Tim Burton has done it again.
This is full of mystery, excitement, laughs and a few scares.
The scariest character (for me) was that weird looking duck in a wheelchair, he gave me the creeps!
My kids love this film and it just goes to show don't change who you are or what you know.
Best buys i have made for a while.
Also the songs throughout the film are fantastic it really gives it more atmosphere.
Perfect

Perfect stop motion animation, perfect songs, perfect voice casting, perfect mix of dark and light humour. I'm generally not a big fan of having alot of songs in my films but these don't detract from the film only add to it and they are so darned catchy. Just a wonderful film. If you haven't seen it then don't hesitate to buy it as it is one of those rarities nowadays . . .a film with true heart
