Buy this version for the sniper scene alone shows Riggs being even more of a badass.

This excellent movie shot Gibson to megga stardom, and you can see why. The film is a master class in action film makeing, under the excellent direction of Richard Donner.
As every body knows Gibson plays a recently widowed cop, who has a death whish. But it's Gibson's interplay With Danny Glover as his new reluctant partner, where the chemesty is , as they grow to like and understand each other. This is at heart a buddy movie. But when the action starts it never stops. This was at the time a new wave in action films, that was much copied at the time, Only DIE HARD managed to improve on this film a year later. This is the directors cut and it's worth getting just for the school hostage scene at the start. The added scenes do slow the action down a tad, but also improve on the characters. A 80's classic !
