1 This doesn't deserve your moneyGogeta | 07/09/2009 | See all Gogeta's reviews (2)It's unfortunate that the rating system doesn't allow for a "0 star" choice because quite frankly that's what this deserves. The fact that this film is so awful is a true testament to Hollywood's belief that fans don't matter when it comes to adapting an anime/manga/comic/game for the big screen. What they forget is that these are the people who will not only want to watch their beloved adapted medium several times over, but they are also the ones who spread word of mouth about how good/bad the film is. This is where Fox failed.Imagine, if you will, if Spiderman had been changed from a gawky teenager infected by a genetically modified spider, to a middle aged man wearing an eight-legged spider suit swinging around New York City with a grapple gun. Doesn't sound good does it? So why then did Fox think that changing Goku from an innocent, care-free, child living alone in the mountains because years ago his adoptive grandfather was killed when Goku transformed into a giant ape and squashed him causing him to grow up knowing nothing about the outside world until Bulma came along and he kept trying to touch her you-know-whats because he'd never seen a girl before, to an awkward teenage douchebag with a smart mouth, emo hair-do, normal adolescent yearnings, and a wimpishness never before seen in a character who was renowned for his courageous never-give-up attitude and determination to win? It boggles the mind.In conclusion, those out there who call themselves "big fans" or "true fan" or "hardcore fans", and give this movie 4 or more stars, are none of the aforementioned titles. They are people who say, "I used to watch the show when I was younger", which only serves to show that a)when they went to see this film they had forgotten all about what actually happened in the story, b)they think that DragonBall GT was an amazing series, and c)don't know who the characters are when they see a picture of them. A true fan knows the whole story, true fans know that GT was a load of rubbish, and true fans wouldn't be caught dead giving their approval to the most appalling film adaptation since Mortal Kombat.
