Review

Ten years after leaving university, Peter and his best friends reunite for a New Year's party to end all parties. Having weathered most of life's triumphs and disasters, there doesn't seem to be much left to shock them - but Peter has a special surprise that will test their friendship to the utmost. A wonderfully wicked comedy about life, love and other natural disasters.

It is New Year's weekend and friends of Peter (Fry) gather at his newly inherited country house, but it's unclear how much any of them still have in common. Although the film is a promoted as a comedy, serious overtones are there from the beginning. The film deals with friendship, marriage, fidelity, materialism, and coping with death. Good performances from some of the cast but Tony Slattery is dreadful.

Absolutely superb. Great british cast. A funny film but with some extremely sad moments. Great soundtrack also. Hugh Laurie is (as ever) superb, but all the cast deliver in a big way. A masterpiece of a film from Ken Branagh. Not an action/horror/thriller film, no special effects, just great human interaction and emotion.

Friends get together after ten years and strugle through a New Year together as they deal with their own individual problems and issues. Comical film with an excellent cast and some very fien performances and a good script. Well worth it.
