The first Alone In The Dark movie was an ok action-horror based loosely on a game of the same name. The unnecessary sequel has little if anything to do with the first and is set mainly in daylight, so one wonders if the title is apt. I could not sit through all of it, and switched it off thoroughly dissappointed. I didn't expect much so my expectations were not high to begin with and even they were not met. An okay cast, decent effects, but if you liked the original you have to watch this as a completely seperate entry in a series that is now probably doomed.
I've just watched this film, and I was quite impressed. Having never played the video game it's apparently based on I came to the movie as a fan of Lance Henrikson who definitely didn't disappoint with another grizzled, gnarly performance.
I like decent modern horror films and this one balances good effects and a dark, claustrophobic atmosphere with an urban 'armed-to-the-teeth' aesthetic. Pretty cool.
To sum up, a good story and a few chills. Kinda like 'Blair Witch:Book Of Shadows', but packin' heat.
The really annoying thing about this film is that it had an ok story; I was quite excited by the trailer. However the film was horribly bad... seriously I've seen better acting at school plays! It does however have a few good scenes where the acting is so bad it actually unintentionally made it funny. Overall avoid unless you want a few cheap laughs or just watch the trailer its much better!
Why do so many film makers change cast of sequals it dose no justice at all the first was only good because of c.slater and even then it would only get 3 stars this one is utter rubbish waste of money dont even let any one give you a copy as u will have wasted hrs of your life.
If i could rate this film 0 stars i would. Having a fair decent casting i thought it would be a good film but i thought it was the most boring and stupidest film i have ever seen. Its not scary in anyway, the story was predicatable and pointless and wasnt even in anyway related to the first film which had the ending for a good sequel. I have seen lower budget films that had better action and plot. Unless you have money to waste, avoid this film at all costs.
