Really wasn't my kind of thing just wanted it to end and v.fast! found it all very pointless as for the fights they were ok but you just no what will happen so again all rather pointless, waste of time glad i never saw it in the cinema. :(
I really enjoyed this movie, mainly because I share some of the same geeky qualities as Scott. The video-game reference's make this a totally awesome and extremely fun movie. If you like video-game's and superhero movie's you're gonna love this.
This is one of the craziest movies of 2010 and one of the best, Edgar Wright is a great director and has made some funny films like hot fuzz and Shaun of the dead, but this is nothing like you have ever seen him do its a very loud and in your face kick ass story about a guy who loves a girl and has to fight her seven evil deadly ex boyfriends in order to date her, Scott pilgrim lives his life like a video game and gets better the more he proceeds with his life and the girl of his dreams! Its whacky and funny and so much fun its certainly a visual treat too, great cast too. Buy it if you want something a little more original than your usual comic book love story. The disc has tons of great extras too for your money.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is an excellent and easy to pick up feature film as well as a companion and introduction to the graphic novels. The film is a non stop homage to gaming and geekiness Drawing heavy influence from video games and anime with a heavy leaning towards Nintendo. From theme songs lifted from classic Nintendo games to clothing that feature logos from gaming history such as the Tri-Force. Michael Cera's performance is both awkward and easy to relate to and it lends a great deal of believability to his immature and love struck character. The supporting cast are excellent especially Chris Evans Brandon Routh and Kieran Culkin. Some of the female support seem to get lost in the story with forgettable and weak performances from Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Anna Kendrick however Ellen Wong seems to shine brightly with her obsessive and slightly crazy role. All in all this film is well worth multiple watches with new elements coming out with the second and third sittings.
This film is a mess, too many 'styles', poor direction and no editorial judgement.
Somehow Wright has taken video games, martial arts and rock music and managed to make them bland.
The worst failing of this film is that the fight scenes suck, there is no change of pace, no cool camera shots and no 'wow' moments. Somehow Wright has managed to take the awesome combo of martial arts and hot cute girls and still not made a cool film, I suppose that's some kind of skill, isn't it..........
