Based on Walter Kim's 2001 novel, Jason Reitman's Oscar-nominated Up In The Air stars George Clooney as an airborne corporate downsizer who learns that life on the move can be a lonely business. Even volcanic ash clouds can't stop this high-flying blend of romantic comedy and drama.

Up In The Air tells the story of a man discovering that life is not simply about the journey alone, but about the personal connections made along the way. Ryan Bingham (Clooney) plays a corporate downsizer and modern business traveller who has lived his life across America in airports, hotels and rental cars. After years of staying happily airborne, he suddenly finds himself ready to make a real connection.

Co-written and directed by Oscar® nominee Jason Reitman (Juno), Up In The Air received six Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor (Clooney) and Best Director.

Winner of the BAFTA Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

 QUITE SIMPLY BRILLIANT

After watching this movie I can safely say that this film deserves all the praise it as had from critics and all the awards that it is up for.
George Clooney is superb as the corporate downsizer who is called in by companies to lay of their staff.
The film follows his isolated life flying from state to state living from a suitcase for most of the year and the people that he comes into contact with along the way.
The film I have to say does not sound that interesting and I was not looking forward to seeing it but believe me the film is far much more than it sounds and is one of the best films I have watched this year.
George Clooney is quite simply one of the best actors around and once more he shines in this peach of a script from Jason Reitman I highly recommended this film and I for one will be buying this as soon as it is available for pre-order.

Had been looking forward to watching this since it was first released and showered with praise.
The film is a Solid Mature Dramedy. It is Clever, Witty and Well Written
The Acting is Relaxed and Confident.
Clooney oozes class throughout, when he first appears he seems like some kind of Frequent Flyer Superhero.
But different layers of his character soon appear.
Vera Farmiga and Anna Kenderick were also good in their parts. Jason Bateman was wasted though.
I like the story, especially the Job that Clooney's character has, it was interesting to see a glimpse of that world. And scary.
Credit to Clooney for reading the script and saying yeah let's do this, bit of a risky proposition in the current World Climate.
The locations used were good and not your usual glossy fare.
Overall this is a bit of a Marmite movie, as some people I've spoken to hate it.
I found it a good watch but it is far too Over Rated and Over Praised.

it's all about the air miles.

George Clooney plays a man who is hired to travels to various locations all over America to fire people. Spends most of his life in a plane and lives out of a suitcase. This movie shows the people he meets, the threat to his air miles and the isolation of life as a jet setter. A little twist in the story will tug at heart strings but this is not a rom com, nor is it an action movie... it just follows the life of a man who loves his job. Defiantly worth the praise it received but not a movie you can watch over and over again.

I truly did not know what to expect from this Drama/ comedy, the critics loved it, but us normal viewers seemed to love or hate it.
In this case I really enjoyed it, Clooney is at his slickest as he lives out of a suit case spending most of his life travelling from one city to another, wanting to rack up his air miles to ten million miles, with no emotional ties in his personal life and job. The fact that he hates coming home to nothing show how distant he has become to all around him and his family. that is until a new approach to his job could leave him truly grounded, and the baggage of what was a one night stand starts to bring his world crashing in. This is not a full on comedy, and does tend to loose it's way towards the end, but it is very witty and engaging movie, with some brilliant performances all round, but what hit's home is the actual footage of the fallout of when people find that they are about to become redundant from their jobs.
Up in the air may not be the classic that all the Critics say, but still is a very good movie.

 Please don't sack me,i got a family...

This was pretty much just an average movie, was nothing special or much to remember from it.Its about a guy who works for a company that gives him Air miles so he can go around the world to sack people.
I really don't think the story went anywhere, was it a love story? well he was in a open relationship kinda thing, was it comedy?it had a few moments but was more wittyness than anything.
I like Geogre Clooney and he was what made this film but i just felt it was'nt much better than something on television.
