I took 2 of my children to see this at the cinema and none of us were dissapointed! Nicolas Cage is amazing as Balthazar Blake and the rest of the cast are fantastic too. It has everything you expect from a disney movie great music ,OneRepublic's "secrets" is a brilliant track and goes perfectly with the movie, great special effects and a happy ending. It's a feel good movie that suits both children and adult's perfect for just sitting back and enjoying with the family of a weekend and gets 5 stars from me .If you haven't seen this yet put it on your to do list .

Remember seeing this advertised for the cinema and thinking oh what a load of rubbish. But i sat down to watch this movie and must say this is Nicholas Cage back at his best. He's done some stinkers lately (Knowing!! - Very poor acting) but i really enjoyed this film. No expense spared on graphcs, great soundtrack (One Republic - Secrets great song). Hope they do a sequel, this is definately a must see if you don't want to be disappointed.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimers name above the film's title used to be pretty much a guarantee that I was gonna enjoy whatever was on offer (Beverly Hills Cop, Bad Boys, The Rock, Enemy of the State, Con Air, Armageddon, Crimson Tide, Gone in 60 Seconds, Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2, National Treasure 1).
But of late that Guarantee doesn't seem to be as consistent as before ( Bad Boys 2, Deja Vu, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Prince of Persia, National Treasure 2) and now this half baked Special Effects Action Fantasy with his fave Lead Actor Nicolas Cage.
The Movie is a disappointment from the word GO, the characters and the Story didnt engage me, I didnt care about either.
Sure it looks slick, and the effects are all spot on, but it just lacked that extra touch, that pulls you into the movie.
Acting was ok, Nicolas Cage looked cool in his get up, Alfred Molina was much better in a similar role in Spiderman 2, the rest of the cast was so so.
Come on Mr Bruckheimer, stop playing it so safe with the family crowd, get back to OTT Action Spectacles like Con Air, The Rock and Armageddon.

This was an absolute amazing film. I didn't know what to expect before I watched it and did have my reservations, but I can honestly say there isn't anything negative I can say about it. LOVED IT!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one as a fan of fantasy movies such as "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings" but this one is different as its just a fun disney fantasy that both adults and kids can sit down and be entertained. Nic Cage is brilliant as Balthazar Blake who recruits Dave (Jay Barchel) as his apprentice to defend New York from his arch nemises Maxim Horvath played brilliantly by Alfred Molina. Seeing as its a PG film its much better than i thought and highly recommended. Enjoy
