Following a plague that has left the world overrun by flesh-devouring zombies, Nerdy college student Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) and gun-toting Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) form an unlikely duo. Together, they are about to stare down their most horrifying challenge yet: each other's company!

Play.com Review

Combining the best bits of horror comedy with elements of the classic buddy movie setup, Zombieland is one of the most refreshing movies in a long while, and the most successful undead flick at the box office. Perfect for fans of Shaun Of The Dead, it even has time to cram in a bit of romance, some fantastic Americana-style road movie sections, and one of the best comedy cameos of all-time.

Originally conceived as a TV show - the movie was to be the pilot - Zombieland is brilliantly funny from the get-go - the opening credit sequence backed by Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is worth the price of the DVD alone. Whilst Columbus' 33 rules for zombie survival provide some crafty setups and witty visual punch lines, it's Woody Harrelson's Tallahassee who steals the show with a smattering of Deliverance nods and some wonderfully OTT moments - he just loves taking out those zombies! The introduction of Witchita (Emma Stone - Superbad) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin - Little Miss Sunshine) injects some much-needed femininity to proceedings, but they're no shrinking violets, oh no.

Despite all the gore and comedy, the film often finds time for more touching scenes, although it's never afraid to throw in absurdly humorous complications (as witnessed when they descend upon a certain film star's LA mansion) to spice things up. Accompanied by an awesome soundtrack collecting tracks including Raconteurs' "Salute Your Solution", Band Of Horses' "No One's Gonna Love You", and Velvet Underground's "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'", the music choices are just as imaginative as the movie itself. Definitely a contender for the best movie of 2009 with Moon and District 9, we could go on about it all day, but we're running out of space. As Tallahassee himself says at one point, channelling the spirit of Babe, "That'll do, pig."

One of the most fun films of 2009, very funny and highly entertaining! This is without doubt one of the best horror-zombie-comedies ever made, the cast was pretty cool, Woody Harrelson was funny it's probably his best role in years! The dialogue was very good and well formulated. There are a couple of interesting cameos too from Amber Heard and Bill Murray. Great fun all-round with a string of mishap adventures in a world overrun by the living dead, some cool gore thrown in too. Worth a watch for sure!

Zombieland has to be the best Horror comedy of the year!
Rob Zombie's Halloween II disappointed me, SAW VI managed to put my faith back in the Jigsaw series,Drag Me To Hell was superb, but this came out of the blue. This is a brilliant riot of laughs and gore, brilliant leads, great script and one of the best camio's in movie history manage to make this film the only rival to Shaun Of The Dead. It's that good I has to watch it again!. If you love Zombie movies, and comedies like Superbad then this Zomcom is a instant classic!
One of the most enjoyable films of the year!

This film was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to give it a go and im glad that I did as this is a really good zombie film that is completely different to most zombie films out there.
The film is similar to Shaun Of The Dead with the comedy element of the film but this is much more gory and violent.
Set in a world were most of the population are now flesh eating zombies and a few human survivors need to keep their wits about them to survive, 4 people are brought together against their will and now must try to survive Zombieland.
With some superb comedy moments and great over the top zombie death scenes this film really is fantastic and worth adding to your collection

 Rule #5. Watch this film.

It's not often that I come out of the cinema with an insane grin on my face that doesn't leave it till I get home, causing people to give me strange looks. But I actually don't care, because Zombieland was just THAT good. The movie has a simple, easy to follow storyline, with the four main characters playing off each other extremely well. Eisenberg is endearingly unheroic. Harelson is comic gold, with brilliant timing and expressions and Stone and Breslin are the two sassy sisters who join them on their travels. The film has an amiable, episodic randomness, but it's so charming and fun that you won't really care where it's going. The music is great, the slow motion scenes slick and stylish and there are jumps and laughs around every corner. For all the splattery takedowns of groaning extras, it's fitting that Zombieland ends up in an amusement park, because it basically is one. A hectic, fun rollercoaster ride that will leave you in a considerably better mood.
