This film had good actors in i must admit. But there is no action in this film. Just a story about a robot wanting to repeat the Pinocchio story. I must also admit the end bit made me sad when he could only have his beloved mum for one day. Good film if ur a steven spielberg fan

i read the original short story `super toys last all summer long`many years ago and when i heard stanley kubrick was directing the film version i was really excited.fate unfortunately stepped and we were robbed of his vision.so steven spielberg took over and apart from a few of his usual mushy bits, this is a great film.you can tell which bits would have been kubricks (most of the first half) and where spielberg took over.the story is very good, the visual effects are stunning and all the actors are on top form.i must admit the end always has me in tears as david finally gets what he wants but at great cost to him.heard negative reviews about this film ? give it a go,you will be surprised.

Did not know what to expect with this film, but it wasnt half as bad as some of the reviews its had!
You do feel for the lead character David, Well with the lead played by hayley joel Osmond what do you expect! Brilliant young actor!
It was very touching and brought more than a few tears to my eyes!
A real tearjerker, and very different movie! Not for everybody but Definetly worth a look! X

I know that this film gets a lot of stick and ultimately that put me off going to see it but out of curiousity i watched it and I've loved it ever since!
I couldn't help but fall in love with the character of David and his journey to be accepted and loved.
A bit schmaltzy and predictable and definitely only for a select audience but never fails to make me hav a gud old cry!

I think by reading the other reviews, it's clear you either love or hate this film. I loved it. I didn't watch it until a couple of years after it's release - the trailers looked terrible and it never took my fancy.

I think we have become immensely desensitized and forget the real beauty and purpose of films... I thought A.I. was an amazing film and I was so glad I finally got round to watching it.... I found myself lost in the story line and found the film's messages beautiful and sad.

I think you must watch this film with an open mind.

Very under-rated and unfairly criticised.

Oh what could have been.

If Stanley Kubrick was still about and had the chance to make this film like he was meant to, this might of been a 5 star review.

Sadly the film is a snooze fest, you never feel any emotions towards the characters, to be fair its not the acting just the way Spielberg made it into one of his soppy movies.

The ending feels tacked on to avoid the depressing, but more meaningful, finish of the story.

Avoid.

I went to see this at the cinema 6 years ago, and even now, whenever I see it mentioned, my eyes well up. The last hour and a half of this movie was absolutely pointless and the first part just poo. It was back when I was a student at B'ham Uni and I wish I'd stayed in and written my jurisprudence essay instead. To be fair, there was a good part of the night: the cinema was selling those milk bottle sweets which are tasty. I know that this review is very unhelpful film review wise, but I am finding it cathartic to write about it. In short, a very very bad film.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Utter tripe from start to finish, with an overrated script, cast AND director, this film was set to be a critic's wet dream. And they didn't waste any time in throwing out the five-star reviews.

Did any of them actually SEE it though? Well, I did. And it did a thorough job of upsetting my calm. It is so spectacularly dull that every single frame is a reminder of just how little this film has to say.

What was the point, anyway? I am seriously asking this question: should anyone who reads this happen to know what the point was of this awe-inspiring boredom-fest, please, please and please let me know.

There is one moment, however, that stands out as being the biggest load of rubbish in the film - and perhaps movie history - and that's the seminally bad moment where the film should have ended, but instead Spielberg decided that he hadn't quite hammered home the hate enough and instead urinated on Kubrick's grave with the "85, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 (and so on) YEARS LATER" ending. Anyone who has been unlucky enough to see this film will know exactly what I mean. The most misguided false-ending I have ever witnessed.

In short, the longest 2 hours and 20 minutes of anybody's life. I saw this film on a plane and I STILL wanted to walk out.
