Phantoms (1998) is a poor thriller based on the Dean Koontz novel. The cast includes Ben Affleck, Rose McGowan, Liev Schreiber and Peter O'Toole.
The cast are all pretty poor in this movie. Affleck does his best but cannot create much charisma. McGowan has loads of cheesy dialogue while O'Toole must be wondering how he agreed to make this movie.
Director Joe Chappelle is known for his cheap horror sequels and TV work. In fairness his directing isn't all that bad. The movie starts quickly but a stodgy script and bad acting soon drag this movie into the bargain bin.
This probably is a movie to avoid unless your a fan of Affleck or the Koontz's book.
Good film - not as bad as others have rated it just because they dont like Ben Affleck. The film has enough suspense, drama & horror to keep sci-fi & horror fans interested to the end of the film. For 3 quid it`s worth a look.
I though this film was great, i love horror films and this one keeps you watching. Its a good suspense horror that keeps you thinking and wondering. I really enjoyed it and i would watch it again.
one of dean koontz`s greatest scariest books is given the not-very-scarey film makeover.it has non of the fear,thrills and terror that the book has and is quite passable.apart from watching rose mcgowan its a film i wouldnt rush out to buy.read the book,much better.
