An astonishing breakthrough is taking shape on the planet Caprica

The rapidly evolving spheres of human and mechanical engineering have collided, along with the fates of two families. Joined by tragedy in an explosive instant of terror, two rival clans led by powerful patriarchs, Joseph Adama (Esai Morales - Jericho) and Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz - Killing Zoe, The Butterfly Effect), duel in an era of questionable ethics, corporate machinations and unbridled personal ambition as the final war for humanity looms.

The latest phenomenon from the executive producers of Battlestar Galactica (Ronald D. Moore and David Eick), set in a time over 50 years earlier, Caprica: The Feature Length Pilot is entirely its own world - provocative, thrilling and startlingly relevant to our own.

Brilliant new chapter in the BSG universe

I watched the feature length production that is "Caprica" a couple of weeks back, and was pleasantly surprised.

Having been somewhat disappointed with the final season of Battlestar Galatica (which thankfully had a good finale), Caprica was a breath of fresh air, and hopefully a sign of what could prove to be an excellent series.

Eric Stoltz was, as usual, brilliant in the lead role and the supporting cast was very solid, especially the young actress playing his daughter, who meets a rather strange fate

I can't really say much more without giving away large elements of the plot, but let's just say you will witness the birth of the cyclons in this first pilot production

The world of Caprica is fully realised, and both the acting and writing are superior to BSG, in my humble opinion

Roll on 2010, when the Caprica series actually starts...

Having been a huge BSG fan I was eagerly awaiting this spin off series but was very surprised to find a completely different approach. This is much slower than BSG and is set many years into the past showing how the creation of the Cylons came to be.

Some excellent cast choices, most noteworthy being Eric Stoltz who is extremely underrated and underused in general.

Don't watch it expecting to see a carry on of BSG or any real action but it is something very interesting, different and thought provoking especially for any followers of BSG.

 Caprica - opinion..........

As the previous reviewers have said, the world is well realised, the acting is faultless, the effects are what we have come to expect and the storyline sets everything up nicely. The only fault I could throw (being a bit picky) is that the aging of the young Bill Adama didn't quite tie-up with the length of time the cylons had been 'on the missing list' and his apparent age when the attack was launched on the colonies in BSG - The mini-series (unless I missed something). As stated, roll on the full series later this year

Brill - cant wait for it to start in 2010!!!!!!
