All about PlayTrade
How does PlayTrade work?

When you order a PlayTrade item, Play.com processes the transaction and passes on the delivery details to the seller, who then ships the item directly to you. Once the seller confirms that the item has been posted, we credit the seller. This ensures that the transaction is safe, fast and easy.

Who are the PlayTraders?

PlayTraders fall into two general groups. Firstly there are individuals who are selling items to earn some extra money. These items may be DVDs that they have already watched, games they have finished or unwanted gifts. Secondly PlayTrade allows established retailers to offer their products to Play.com customers. To find out more information on any PlayTrader, such as how long they have been trading for, their overall rating and the type of feedback they have received from other customers, simply click on their seller name.

Why are there different prices for the same product?

PlayTraders set their own prices which often results in a range of different prices for the same product. Also, as it is possible to sell new and used products, PlayTraders can vary their prices to reflect the condition of the item. All prices are fixed: there is no bidding involved; and as with everything you buy on Play.com the price includes free delivery.

Can I become a PlayTrader?

Yes, it’s quick and easy to set up a PlayTrade account with us. To start selling, click the ‘Sign Up’ button below.

Shopping with PlayTrade
How do I buy a PlayTrade item?

Wherever you see PlayTrade items you can add these to your basket in the same way you add a Play.com item. Then you simply checkout as normal. Play.com handles all of the payment process on its secure servers and pays the seller directly, once your order has been posted. This ensures both a quick and easy checkout, and that all your payment details remain secure.

Do I need to set up a special account to buy from PlayTraders?

If you already have a Play.com account then you can start buying from PlayTraders straight away. If you do not have an account with us you will need to create one.

How much is delivery?

As with everything you buy on Play.com, the price of a PlayTrade item includes delivery.

How long will delivery take?

PlayTraders dispatch products from a number of locations, so delivery times vary. We ask all of our PlayTraders to dispatch items within two working days and to confirm when they have sent it.

All PlayTraders specify where they are shipping the item from, and this is listed with the product details. The dispatch location allows us to estimate how long an item will take to reach you. Here are approximate delivery times that apply once you have received confirmation that the item has been posted:

Buy with confidence – The FairPlay Guarantee
Is it safe to buy from a PlayTrader?

It is very safe. The entire transaction is processed by Play.com and is covered by our FairPlay Guarantee. We only pay the PlayTrader once the seller has confirmed they have posted your item.

We openly invite customers to tell us and other customers how the transaction went by leaving feedback on the PlayTrader, and expect all of our PlayTraders to maintain a high feedback score. This encourages PlayTraders to provide the highest level of customer service.

What rights do I have?

Your statutory rights remain unaffected regardless of whether you buy from Play.com or via PlayTrade. We want you to enjoy a great shopping experience, so you should not hesitate to contact a PlayTrader in the event that you have any concerns about your order.

What happens if something goes wrong?

As with any shop, occasionally something can go wrong with your order. If you are at all unhappy with an item, or with the service offered by a PlayTrader, we provide a ‘Contact seller’ function available through the Play.com Helpdesk (we keep a copy of your message with your account details).

We find that the majority of problems can be solved quickly by the buyer contacting the PlayTrader directly. In the unlikely event that your problem cannot be solved, your purchase is covered by the FairPlay Guarantee.

What is the FairPlay Guarantee?

All purchases made via PlayTrade are covered by the FairPlay Guarantee. This is Play.com’s guarantee that in the unlikely event that you cannot resolve a problem directly with a PlayTrader, we will refund you ourselves. Feedback
What is feedback?

Feedback is the comments and ratings left by other customers who have bought from a particular PlayTrader. Over the course of time a PlayTrader develops a feedback score, showing how happy previous customers were with their service. We encourage buyers to compare PlayTraders’ feedback scores as an important part of choosing who to buy from.

How does the feedback system work?

When our customers make purchases via PlayTrade we invite them to leave open and honest feedback about their experiences of buying from particular PlayTraders.

Customers rate each transaction as positive, neutral or negative, and can also leave a short comment. Over time the PlayTrader develops a score, showing what percentage of their feedback has been positive. It’s important for customers to leave feedback as it encourages a better overall service.

What feedback should I leave?

The most important thing is for you to be honest about the transaction. Your feedback will go onto the Play.com site to help other customers make their buying decisions, and honest feedback contributes to a healthy platform for both buyers and sellers.

If things did not go as well as you hoped, consider contacting the seller directly before leaving negative feedback, as it may be that the seller can put things right for you.

PlayTrade orders
How do I track an order?

As with all orders from Play.com, your PlayTrade orders appear in the ‘Outstanding orders’ page of your account. Once an order is made the PlayTrader is required to dispatch your item within two working days, and also confirm that it has been sent. The order will then appear in your ‘Order history’ page as ‘Posted’, and will show the date on which the seller confirmed dispatch.

We will then send you an email with an estimated delivery date. If you have any more specific questions about an item’s delivery you should contact the PlayTrader directly.

Can I have PlayTrade orders sent to me overseas?

Many PlayTraders are able to dispatch items to European delivery addresses. To see which items can be delivered to addresses outside the UK click on the euro (€) symbol in the Shopping Basket. You will then be able to browse the site for internationally available items.
