No Rules.

After a deadly security breach in the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force (JIATF), the FBI ask for help from the Miami authorities who are not part of the compromised group. This assignment goes to Detectives James 'Sonny' Crockett (Farrell) and Ricardo 'Rico' Tubbs (Foxx). Going undercover as offshore boat racers and outlaw smugglers Sonny Burnett and Rico Cooper, they take on the narcotrafficking network of the mysterious Archangel de Jesus Montoya-Londono and his Cuban Chinese banker Isabella (Gong Li) where the intensity of the case pushes Crockett and Tubbs out onto the edge. Identity and fabrication become blurred, cop and player become one...

Writer/director Michael Mann returns to the iconic 1980s series which he co-created. While the white Ferrari Testarossa, Jan Hammer synthesizer music and fashion excess may have been left behind with original duo Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas, Colin Farrell and Mann regular Jamie Foxx are more than a match in the new bigger, louder and just as thrilling big screen outing for Crockett and Tubbs!

Exciting & Heartpunding from the beginning!

Michael Mann has been responsible for many great films and some of my favourites (Heat & Last of the Mohicans for example) but this has just a little more edge.

With excellent performances from all the leading cast & supporting actors it is a very convincing portrayal of what is a very dangerous situation they become involved in.

I have to say it is a bit of a bloke film though, the Ferrari & Bentley chase at the beginning immediately making you green with envy and that you were actually there, also the blazing gunfights and some highly charged scenes where there is clearly too much testosterone flowing.

That said this is one of the few films that never tires and you could quite happily watch over and over without getting bored.

A must see film which definately doesn't glamorise the underworld of drugs & prostitution, it has a very mixed soundtrack which is very effective at complimenting its accompanying scene.

Definite 10 out of 10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I though the film was a brilliant re-imaging of the orginal show which I thought sometimes glamourized the drug world at times.

In this rendition there is no glamourizing of the underworld its dark moody and there is this constant threat that something bad is gonna happen.

The actors are brilliant both Foxx & Farrel, I like the fact that Jamie Foxx's character was turned round to have some kind of brain, cos in the show Crocket always came up with the idea's, tubbs character in this version is pretty lethal.

I know people complained that there wasn't much dialog between the 2 but the've known each other so long they just have to look at each other its complete trust.

The other complaint was that there was no explanation of the orgins of the characters, well this is explained in the TV series, so there was no need to go over it again.

The look and direction of the film is brilliant and the HD really brings out the colour.

I hope another feature film will be made...

Everythings just OK, the movie, the picture and the sound

Well, an HDDVD exclusive.

Watching it for the 1st time on HDDVD I saw some next gen potential. (Playing at 1080i) - The night time scenes and moody and cool looking Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx are well realised in HD. There are elements of picture noise but thatv said, a major improvement over SD.

Scenes of their Ferrari speeding through the Miami Freeways are exciting and colourful.

As a movie it is about looking and being cool. The stakes never really get that high but the gun fight at the end is very exciting.

The plot is not overly complicated but the speak tough, play hard attitude are well acted by the leads. Miami's pictuesque settings also look great.
