In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and, with the help of trusted butler Alfred (a scene-stealing Michael Caine) unveils his alter-ego: Batman is a masked crusader who will use strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city...

Director Christopher Nolan deliberately exorcises the camp and grand guignol of the previous movies and TV series. This is truly a gritty and brooding exploration of the beginnings of the Dark Knight, a faithful vision of Bob Kane's anti-hero from DC Comics.

Want to test how your HD TV can handle black Definition, then this is the movie for you.

The Transfer to disk is excellent, no picture noise or grain. the Dark scenes of gloomy gotham and The Batman are truly Excellent.

The scene where Bruce Wayne tests his Batcar for the 1st time are an excellent example of how bright and detailed images can be from HDDVD. The white leaps off the screen, the dark interior of the car detailed, oh and the audio throughout is excellent (playing on a THX certified 7.1 AMP)

As a movie this is to Batman what Casino Royale is to Bond, back to basics and back to the beginning.

Find out what makes Bruce Wayne tick. See him as he trains with the league of shadows and find out whats important and what he wants to do with his life. The final showdown involving the Metro Train is excellent and thrilling.

Its not who I am, but what I do that defines me.

A great movie and great HDDVD showcase.

 A True New Beginning

Lets face it, the last Batman movies turned into a farce so a new beginning is just what was needed.

Christian Bale is by far the best Batman to date, the other Batman (Batmen) all seemed to be "goody two shoes" kind of characters where with Bales Batman you are never quite sure if he's good or if he is out toget what he can for himself, this brings a more human feeling to both Batman and to Bruce Wayne.. The fact that this movie has so many Star Quality Actors playing smaller roles doesnt harm the movie... Gary Oldman pulls out a stunning performance as Jim Gordon as does Cillian Murphy as the scarecrow but also other well known actors like Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes, Tom Wilkinson, Rutger Hauer and the amazing Morgan Freeman all come together to make this the darkest but best Batman movie to date.. an added bonus is there is no Arnold Schwarzenegger in sight!. This movie is an eye opener, showing just how and why Wayne became Batman.. Forget the previous Batman Movies, This is where it should start and hopefully continue without becoming a commercial farce like the other series of movies did.

The HD DVD format brings this movie to life even more that I could have hoped for. some scenes have a 3D feel to them especially the night time skyline shots of Gotham and the quality is top notch through out.

Thank you Christopher Nolan for bringing one of my favourite childhood super heroes back to life

Impressive Showcase for Next Gen DVD

Batman Begins is, without doubt, one of the most polished comic book movies to arise over the past few years. Because of this, Warner Brothers decided to release it on the new disc format HD-DVD, which is currently in a war with the similar high defintion disc Blu-Ray, showing faith in HD-DVD has really paid off for Batman Begins because the difference between this version and the standard DVD format is very noticable. It looks and sounds incredible , no grain at all and leaves a very smooth and polished transfer which leaves a showcase to show friends how good high definition can be. Lets hope more studios release their big franchises on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray soon because if the transfers are as successful as this one, standard DVD will be easily forgotten about.

 Gripping!! Batman Begins

Superb! I'm not usually a Batman fan and don't really rate this film's predecessors but this one is absolutely brilliant.I bought it because it's reviews were so good and I wasn't disappointed.I was gripped throughout. The action was fab and Ledger certainly gave Jack Nicholson a run for his money! Not to be missed.
