Smokin' Aces (HD DVD)

I agree, this film was ment to be such a big deal and it just didnt pull it off by a long way.. I kind of guessed the end half way through the film! The reason why it was so bad is because it had many good films to live up to like Snatch, Lock Stock, Layer Cake etc etc etc... Save your money!

Th plot of the film seems like it has been put into the film after the rest of the film had been shot.

If you like a film with action between diffrent groups of assassins to get the money for the hit.

Basically this film i alright would of got 4 stars but had a poor plot.

I found that Smokin' Aces was a disapointment. I got my hopes up when i watched the trailer and thought it looked great and couldnt wait to watch it. But once i did watch it i found it to very hectic, and that there was too much going on. The story of multiple assassins sounded great but there just are too many of them, and some of the characters are very extreme. The blood thirsty group of assassins are way to outrageously psychotic to still be out in the world as assassins.

(Good Points)
Good points about this film is that its got some great action sequences, and has some great gun action in it. There are some great actors in this film including Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, Alicia Keys, Andy Garcia and many more.

(Bad Points)
The main bad points about this film is that its just a bit too long, and due to the many storylines it can be a bit hard to follow especially for people who have a short attention span.

(DVD HD Special Features)
The Special Features on this DVD are fairly good with things such as Shoot 'Em Up: Stunts & Effects, The Big Gun, The Line-Up, Deleted Scenes and some Outtakes aswel as a trailer for Hot Fuzz.

This film will appeal to people who like a bit of blood thirst and who like their guns/weapons. I think this film is worth a buy is you can get it cheap or go and rent it first.

This rating is for the film itself and the special features, as well as the overall quality of the picture and sound.

Despite the guns over brains reviews, the way the screenplay has been written is very slick, and is certainly no brainless shooter. It's very sliick, with great production values, a sublime cast and a very unexpected turn of events...

However, I agree with what was said about issues with playback and with the disc itself. My friend also ordered his copy of the disc from the states, and it refused to work on the first attempt, however, changing the disc over to the us dvd side then back to the hd side seemed to fix it pretty much.

The UK disc however, if you are looking to buy the film not owning a HDDVD player planning to buy into HD, wait until you buy a HD as the UK disc despite being advertised even on the sleeve of the disc itself is not a combo disc. This is a really poor oversight by everyone involved in the production of this disc.

the good music and acting makes this film worth watching. i dont want to tell about the story because it always spoils too much. all you need to know is that there are some killers who want to kill an ex-mafia guy from las vegas. the story gets some surprises to the end.
interesting characters, sometimes funny (nazi punk killers) and best of all the new barrett sniper rifle blows away everything at the end.
