Planet Earth Box Set (4 Discs) (HD DVD)

BE AWARE that this release is presented only in 1080i, the American release is in 1080p. Play.com really need to state this in the product description as I only found out when I looked at the back of the box. I've sold the copy I bought from here and ordered the American version overseas

It's the same as the US version, except we get an EXTRA DISC, which is 1080i.

People who keep saying it's 'only 1080i' really need to get a grip; WHY do you think it is 1080i??? Because it says that on the box? Try putting the disc into your player, and see what it says...it will say 1080P. Then look at your TV display, what does that say? 1080P.

Guess why? COS IT'S 1080P.

Why on EARTH would the BBC release a 1080i version of something they had already mastered in 1080P??? That would require 2 seperate production runs, and produce an inferior product, all for no reason. The answer: THEY DIDN'T. It's 1080P, which you would know if you had spent 5 seconds looking at the outputs from your HD-DVD / TV.

In future don't post about things YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

This 5 disc UK version is 1080p (the four main discs) AND 1080i (extra disc). US version do not have the extra disc.

For anybody with an HDDVD player and HD TV then you simply have to own Planet Earth. The BBC shot the series entirely in High Definition, therefore you can imagine just how fantastic this looks. Truly jaw dropping visuals which compliment an amazing series. If you have never watched Planet Earth before (like me) you owe it to yourself to watch this, as it shows the rarest animals and places on earth which few (if any) of us will ever be able to visit. On HD this looks lush and guaranteed in places to make your chin hit the floor

to the previous reviewer. The main discs on the UK version are 1080P not 1080i. It's a printing error on the back of the packaging. The extra disc is in 1080i though.
Either way....amazing quality and an essential purchase, especially at this price
