Sony Bravia 22 inch KDL- 22BX20 D / HD Ready / Freeview / Built-in DVD LCD TV Combi

After many hours searching online and reading reviews of lots of DVD/TV combi tellies, and all but giving up from some of the comments from other brands we settled on this one because of a long history of using Sony products and being happy with their robustness and longevity compared to others.

We had a Sanyo 19" TV/DVD combi which starting to develop faults after just a years' use. We toured the big electrical retailers looking at new ones for similar money but all were let down by extremely noisy DVD drives, or beacon-like standby lights that illuminate the whole room, or just terrible picture quality. A few good reviews of this Sony one and the worst comment was about the tinny-sound quality.

As for functionality it is perfect for what we needed. Very sharp picture quality, logical menus and importantly a user friendly and well set out channel browser for the Freeview. The DVD drive is quiet and since it has a sleep timer you can set it and drift off without worrying about waking up in the morning with the telly still on. I would have to agree the sound is just a 'little' bit tinny, but it's not terrible. if you want to watch an action spectacular you should stick to a bigger TV connected to a surround sound set up.

Overall though very happy with it, and the usual free delivery from Play is of course a nice touch. We haven't used any of the other numerous functions yet so cannot comment on them.

If I could select 4.5 out of 5 I would, but 4 it gets just because of the sound quality and the fact that the sleep timer is deep within in the menu system. Otherwise a rock solid, stylish TV, perfect for the bedroom or kids' room.
