Enjoy Blu-ray Disc movies in Full HD1080p quality and your existing DVD collection in near HD quality thanks to the player's upscale functionality and HDMI connection. The S370 also features BRAVIA Internet Video allowing you to access movies, TV shows, and music from YouTube, BBC iPlayer and more.

Key Features:

Full HD 1080p
Blu-ray is the clearest, most realistic video format to date, giving you images so sharp you can pick out every detail and crystal clear sound that makes you feel part of the world on screen. With Blu-ray you get five times the picture quality and ten times the sound quality of DVD, providing a powerful movie experience for all your senses

Explore a new world of entertainment
Bravia Internet Video lets you stream a wide variety of movies, TV episodes, videos and music from a large selection of entertainment apps and websites including YouTube and BBC iPlayer. Connect using an Ethernet cable or take advantage of the S370's WLAN functionality to avoid the clutter of wires - just add a Sony USB WIFI dongle.

24p True Cinema technology
With 24p True Cinema technology you can sit back and enjoy movies exactly as the director filmed them. Until now, if you watched a movie at home you'd see it played back slightly faster than at the cinema because standard TVs deliver images at 25 frames a second.  awesome new blu-ray player from Sony!

I've been a big fan of Sony and its blu-ray players for quite some time now, but having recently used this latest model, it blows everything out of the water! for a start, there's the touted 3 seconds loading time, which is great if you're like me and don't like waiting around for ages for your disc to load. Then there's the improved picture quality over the previous models... but that's the tip of the iceberg! You also get BBC iPlayer and 5 On Demand (via firmware and video list update), and access to loads of other on-demand internet video services such as YouTube, Dailymotion and many others. But the ultimate part of this is the fact that you even get access to LoveFilm via the player! and with that, if you have the unlimited subscription already with LoveFilm, you can log into your account via the player and have access to thousands of films you can rent and stream via the internet direct into the player and onto your TV! oh and then there's full DivX playback via USB, wireless 802.11n internet connectivity (via a seperate purchased Sony wireless USB dongle), MP3/MP4 playback and JPEG picture viewing. And also, like the Playstation 3, you can also stream videos, music and photos direct from a home network (via DNLA) instead of using a USB memory stick.

all in all, for the price you pay and what you get out of it (with the exception that, as with most players, you are required to purchase a seperate HDMI lead), this is one, if not the, ultimate sub-200 pound Blu-Ray player on the market at the moment! Go get one now!

Fantastic bit of kit at the price albeit with flimsy build

Pros:

This is a stunning player, was a steal at 119 and now at 99 it has to be a total no brainer for anyone thinking of taking the leap into Bluray. I have it connected to a Samsung HD tv and it gives great results. Not even tried Bluray discs yet but upsampled DVDs look good so far. What is really impressive though are all the features you get - I have it connected to the internet via my home network, means you can play Iplayer, Youtube etc content direct to the TV screen (all upsampled to HD), also means I can play any music & video media on my remote networked Linkstation NAS drive (via upnp/DLNA running on the drive, so no need for my PC to be running as a server either), you can also play media files locally via two USB ports (works perfectly with a external HDD or a USB stick ). It will even directly play HD video recorded onto SD card with a Sanyo Xacti camcorder... It supports the Samsung Anynet system too, meaning the Samsung TV remote will control the Bluray player backwards via the HDMI cable.

The icing on the cake though is the free Sony app which allows remote control via an Android phone handset, allowing full text input for search terms in youtube etc.

Cons:

Only 1 really - the chassis is quite flimsy and actually too low in profile, meaning tiny (flimsy) front panel buttons that are virtually invisible without direct light on the front panel. Clearly intended to be used with the remote control rather than the front panel, but still annoying because you can't even see the button to eject/load a disc (a minimum requirement for any disc-based device in my opinion). A real shame because adding an extra 10pounds to the price and improving the build quality would have made it a total masterpiece of modern consumer electronics. Nevertheless a fantastic buy especially at the current price.

 Does not need dongle

Great dvd player. Have been reading the reviews for this device and it gets high ratings everywhere. The prices range from 99 to 189 depending where you look.Buying so can access Lovefilm in the living room without having to move ps3 around and change wired settings to wifi. It can be region unlocked for dvd, not blu ray.
If you want to connect to internet you dont HAVE to buy the dongle. The other option is to buy 2 power over ethernet plugs (about 35) plug one in next to your router and connect the ethernet cable to the router port. Then, plug the other in where your player is and connect the ethernet cable to the ethernet port on the player. Hey presto! More secure than wifi and more stable. Power over ethernet works the same as those baby monitor devices do. They also work with any other internet enabled devices ps3,xbox etc that have ethernet ports. Great for those wifi blackspots. Hope this helps!

Best mid range Blu-ray player on the market

This has to be my favourite Blu-Ray player out of all the five i own, in the past i have bought Panasonics,Samsung,LG,Toshiba and Sony. Apart from the sony Bluray player they all lacked extra features. This Bluray player the Sony S370 has it all at a great price, the picture and sound quality is top notch and the initial setup is fantastically easy too. The only slight downfall is that this player does not come with wireless capability built in and the adapter is pricey, however it does come with an ethernet connection and you could also use a powerline connection.
