The Apple Ipod is a good bit of kit ... if you know how to use it! There is a way round most complications and the Ipod video is no different, its just a question of figuring out how. The worse things about the Ipod video is the lack of battery life for watching films on, I bought mine as entertainment for at work when I had a break etc, if its plugged into your car or computer its fine, but if your away and staying away from a charging point for along time then you probably only get about 2hrs video time max and around 10-15hrs music time depending if the backlight is on or off. The other big thing which would have been handy would be an in-built speaker, this would have made things handy if on the move with friends, however its not essential. The only other thing is itunes and it not selling films or tv shows, I think this defeats the object of having a video ipod. This is where knowing things comes in handy. If you know what your doing and have the right software (all free from the internet) you can put all your favourite DVDs onto your Ipod bypassing the whole copyright protection on the DVD (though this takes around 2-3hrs for each film after conversion) people also have trouble putting songs bought off napster or other popular programs onto the Ipod due to itunes, this is easilly bypassed by putting the songs onto CD first and then transferring them onto Itunes.

All in all a decent gadget with a great screen which, used correctly can provide you with endless music, photos, games and movies.

 EXCELLENTTT...... I have had one

since november 2006 and it has showed its quality constantly. i am very impressed with its quality of sound, loudness and usabililty. i have not yet had any problems and it has been 9 months since i got it. video quality is also very good. if you use a suitable software then putting videos onto it is extremely simple. just the same as putting music on.
overall i am VERY IMPRESSED and would recommend it to anyone who loves music or videos!

Ordered this one from Play @ 3:00pm on the Tuesday and it arrived on the Thursday late afternoon. Extremely pleased with the turn around.

I'd been borrowing my mates 1st generation 1GB Nano to keep me going until I decided which iPod I would go for. This would be the first iPod I've owned. I was really keen on getting the 80GB version but in the end the 30GB seemed like the best value for money per storage out of the range. I won't be watching that much video on it but even if I did, and I currently have 10 movies stored, a load of podcasts and just over a thousand music tracks, there's still over half the space left.

Overall really pleased with everything about it and I've even become an iTunes full time user. Chopping and changing between applications as alternatives to iTunes will just drive you mad. Stick with iTunes and your life with your iPod becomes a whole lot easier.

The whole reason for me getting one was to connect in my car to my iPod friendly Alpine head unit thus removing the need for a CD changer in the boot. I now have all my tunes with me on the go in the car and gained some boot space. I can search through my tracks via the headunit with the iPod safely tucked up in the glovebox.

The gapless playback also works well with this iPod where as the 1st gen 1GB Nano I borrowed always had a gap between tracks on gapless albums, so very pleased with that.

Top marks to Play for providing a competitive price along with free delivery without having to wait forever for it to arrive like some other on-line companies that'll make you wait over a week.

I purchaced one of these when they came out for £220, and i was still pleased with what i got, i use it so muh, i dont have a problem with the battery, i can watch 6 hours of video without it dieing, so maybe its just certain videos that use up more battery but a great buy at 149.99, i think its worth £10 for 22GB of space! or you can spend £10 less and get a nano! So if you are looking for a new MP3/4 player then this is the way to go, GREAT BUY!

 godd but some flaws

i have this ipod and i constantly use it wherever i go. the size of the ipod is great as the screen is large enough to easily see the videos that you save and the memory is huge i have 2500 songs and 3 videos and still have 20 gig left. however the life span of the battery in general is pretty poor mine lasts 10 hours without watching any videos. when i watched a video 5 or 6 times the battery was in red!! mine has also started to stall every so often and the hold slider jams so i cant put my ipod on hold anymore, this is after having it for about 8 months. overall a good addition as the video feature is great!!
